currently just had my bf f6 typhoon moddified with the following, bigger injectors, pump, bmc filter, fuull stainless exhaust and dump, difillipo turbo pipework, atomic valvesprings, pwr intercooler. currently have 320rwkws. looking at getting the actuator modd, can people tell me what the average gain is and what advantage it is in doing this modd,is it better for the turbo something about controlling boost levels? any advice appreciated.

I had to do the ported flap to my xr6t boost was uncontrollable. it seem like yours is ok unless when your tuner trys to put more boost in and the wastegate cannot flow enough and your boost will keep rising. The actuator mod is for higher boost levels. For example my car would go 15 psi then back to 11 psi top end. With the new 9.5psi I can control higher boost levels right throught the rev range

320RWKW is a very good starting point. What boost are you running at top end?

think mines 14 down to 10 topend. your the second person that's mentioned the flap, will ask as my actuator is being done monday. thanks for your input, controllable boost is what you want hey has to be better for your turbo and engine. did you end up with same power with 9.5psi across rev range as what you had with 15 down to 11. probably doesnt pull as hard down low though does it?

na it still pulls down low but you get a flat feeling over about 4500 rpm. if they while the turbo is off I would recomend to do the flap as you are chasing more power. I changed my actuator put the car back together put it on the dyno and then boost kept climbing so it all had to come off and the flap had to be enlarged. For the safety of it get it done at the same time it will save money and time in the long run. mrt in sydney have an exchange housing for $380.00 isnt the cheapest but I need the car for a daily driver. Alot of the turbo companies can do that modification might take a couple of day s though.

Saying this though I have a bf ute which has a 3 1/2 inch dump into a 5 inch metal cat with a seperate wastegate screamer pipe and this car has 323 rwkw on 15 psi with just the actuator done. My sedan has a 4 inch dump into a 3 1/2 inch system. If you have a free flowing exhaust this can change everything to. at the end of the day it is not worth the extra money to do things twice my time dyno time. for the money do it

Also installing the 9.5 psi actuator is an increased spring rate instead of the 4 .5 psi spring this aid in being able to hold the flap shut whilst on bigger boost. the 9.5 psi will hold my car on 18 psi flat accross the range

Do you have a rebuilt bottom end or standard Typhoon engine?

What results are you getting with 18 PSI up top?

I have a boost surging problem at the moment on 12psi I am making 298rwkw the 18 psi run I did not complete. I am aiming for 15 psi tune should get 320 -330 the car is an auto and it has a standard bottom end. also make sure you upgrade to an external pump when chasing power figures as the walbro in my ute after a bit of hammering the fuel pump gets hot and the afrs jump up from 12.5 to 13.5. I would advise an external pump be installed for reliability and insurance. They are noisy when they get hot but worth every cent read the post about how to wreck a atomic bottom end. I am going to make a custom cradle so I can put 2 walbros intank or the bosh 044 to keep it quiet
