As the title says im averaging 18l / 100km’s (vehicle is stock) and this is in morning and afternoon traffic, I barley get a chance to reach 3000 rpm on the tacho so I can rule out “spirited driving” being the cause.

What course of action should I take? Should I go see a ford dealership and ask for a re-map / tune in the hopes it could resolve the problem?

Cheers,

On a recent trip from Sydney to Mebourne and return I travelled 2,500 kms at an average of 11.5 L/100kms. This was in a std BF XR6T with 1,500 kms on the clock (with Castrol Edge 0W40).

If I drive in the city and give it a bit of a squirt I do 24 L/100kms. Conservative is around 19.

Count your luck stars to do 18.

Its not so much the stock tunes running rich, but cold running definately runs rich. It can take some time for these things to warm up. Add to that city driving, I cannot see an answer. What is the car like out on open road, and I mean a good run, what fuel figueres do you get then.

Scotty

PS Edit is no always the answer, Fark me $1500.00 can buy a lot of fuel.

that's the thing it's a rare occasion that I get a open road to myself, so I am unable to make any accurate calculations.

My Car, BA MK2 Turbo, 6 speed manual. I got now just over 9,000km on the clock.

Best ever comming back from the south coast ( NSW ) over the mountains to Canberra. 9.82 litres.

On a normal interstate trip no more than 10.5 litres

Around Canberra 12 to 13.5 litres

Worst ever 15.53 litres.

When I fill up, I fill to the top and then record my readings, Litres / Km.

I mostly use Shell or Caltex 91 / 95.

The car has no modifications as such. !

Super happy !!

PS, I did set the Sparkplugs to .8 mm !!
