I'm no expert on this stuff, but I have just added a couple of thoughts...The BOV may help with the life of your turbo - reduced shock to bearings etc. due to compressor surge when changing gears. Also it should help maintain turbo pressure through gear changes by keeping the turbo spooling giving you increased torque at low rpm.An after market BOV should deliver less turbo lag and inprove the life of your turbo. I don't have exact information on the capacity of the factory BOV, so please don't take my guess as exact science!!

Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 19/05/04 02:28 AM Share Posted 19/05/04 02:28 AM Just a quick one on this ...I have the same GFB BOV installed and it is great but must admit the snug fit makes it a hassle to adjust (From ON to OFF) and I just couldn't be bothered - but the reason I went the Stealth in the first place (apart from the great quality) was so I could adjust it and turn it off when I wanted.I have seen a pic on here with the BOV installed on the large black pipes coming up over the block from the turbo (technical I know - but hey that is what they are to me) and just cut in with clamps either side.I also believe there is no problem installing the BOV here and just blocking off where the factory one goes. This would make accessing the valve so much easier - does it affect anything if it goes here ? Anyone ??Thanks!B.

Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 19/05/04 04:33 AM Share Posted 19/05/04 04:33 AM They have zero impact on warranty.Mine has been in 3 times (last was the 15k service) and there is not mention or problem with the dealer.B

All was going well until I removed the old BOV and found that the fittings on the Stealth FX were nothing like the Bosch part. Picked up the Stealth FX from MRT at Ryde and they have a fantastic range of go fast bits for rally cars and Rex but the XR6T is obvioulsy a little unknown to them. They had no idea that the universal Stealth FX does not fit the XR6T unless you have the specific fittings (which do not come in the standard kit). The lesson here, make sure you get the correct fittings for BOV. Both the high pressure entry port and the plumb back exit port need to have a 25mm barbed fitting to suit the rubber hose on the XR6T. The universal BOV by default has a 30mm barbed fitting for the plumb back exit port and about a 50mm straight fitting on the HP side. The 30mm fitting can be screwed out and a 25mm one fitted and the base gets an 25mm barbed insert fitted and held with a grub screw.A quick trip to GFB at Marrickville solved my problems as MRT did not carry any stock of the adaptors.I have it fitted now and damn it is a tight squeeze!
