Charliewool Member 375 Member For: 21y 11m 13d Location: Melbourne Posted 10/05/03 10:42 AM Share Posted 10/05/03 10:42 AM Hi Guys.. Yes have been out driving (+ work commitments!).. Will post pics tomorrow ,I PROMISE! 1st impressions are this, in comparing the Pursuit to the XRT. ( after 400 odd Ks in th 290) The Pursuit is like a Bull on steroids!.. It is a BIG vehicle,& feels it! It exudes sheer GRUNT, massive low end torque, & the rush, when you reach 3 1/2 odd grand ( not to mention the intake & exhaust roar) is something else! It handles like it's on rails for a big mother.. however, the leaf sprung rear does give some "moments"! If accelerating over ANY road inperfection, corrugation or similar, axle tramp causes momentary, instant traction loss ( AND this is in the dry!) It doesn't falter or attempt to get crossed up, it continues as straight as a bullet , But you just know there's wheelspin happening, then it will bite again & alls fine!... disconcerting, just the same! ( why they didn't put IRS in ute is beyond me?) BTW, this is NOT up near 6000 rpm I'm talking 3- 4 grand!.Apart from that, no one can wipe the smile from my dial! The "T" ,on the other hand, ( which now has 5000 ks on it).. Is a "Gazalle"... It is refined, feels "nimble".. light on it's toes, It has oodles and oodles of sheer "go", & is SO much more forgiving and easier to drive. Balanced is another word I'd give to the turbo sedan! BTW both vehicles are manuals. & regardless of other reports, I can't seperate the T5 & the Tremac in shift performance?.. Both are long throw shifts , clunky, & VERY Ford "toploaderish"!. The guys looking at GT sedans, I reckon might just get the best of both worlds with the BOSS grunt, the sedan IRS rear, & hopefully inherit some of the balance that the "T" has?.... regards Charlie pics tomorrow! Hope they're not too big!
