My car is stock as a rock and few a lil mods are on the cards for the near future. Nothing too over the top, im happy with how she goes as is.

Just want to know your thoughts on putting on a K&N filter and what should I expect out of it.

My local mechaic says theres no benefit as all it will do is suck in the hot air from the engine bay.

You guys always know so much more about this sort of stuff.

Thanks.

I've also got a k&N filter and works very good compared to the

stock paper filter. but its not a mod to expect a huge improvement the

things that change are induction noise is louder and allows more

air threw compared to the stock one a may feel more responsive.but maybe you should consider getting a Typhoon Cold Air Intake not expensive but more benefits out of it then the filter only. I use both and my car is stock and improved alot

my 2 cents

Carlos.

Its a waste of time even thinking about the minor kw gains on a stock car, but, they are definatly worth using as throttle response will be improved and torque will be up... team it up with a decent typhoon style CAI and your in for a better, quicker car ready for an edit

If you mentioned to your mechanic that you will replace the airbox with a pod style filter yes his is correct, if you said you would replace the panel filter with a k and n filter he needs to rethink a few things.

I noticed it on mine... was like chalk and cheese, spose it depends on how you drive and how you the car at different times.

My mrs didnt/hasnt/never will notice the benifits... but she just puts around with a poke here and there

I noticed a change putting the K&N filter and APS CAI Scoop on at the same time. Torque felt noticeably better though I agree that overall power did not improve. I am sure the K&N made a difference, and it is always a mod to build on.

I did notice the reverse for fuel economy though and mine went up from about 15l/100km to 18l/100km - though I am a bit of a lead foot at times. Car felt a fair bit more responsive - as if I was driving it on a cold day.
