The plugs are about 2000kms old - the others are just fine.

It only had a new bottom end put in it - why would you re-tune it? And the plug wasn't over tightened - although I fail to see how that would have broken the end off it??

the plug has vapourised due to detonation!!!

is this why the first motor blew?

retune it!!!!

The original motor is absolutely fine - it was replaced as precaution.

409RWKW's will do that.

It is running the same tune as previously - comp ratios, nothing has changed??

it advisable anyway when you do any component change, as we can see the cost of a dyno session could have rectified this fault

I still do not think it was detonation.

The plug may have simply failed.

Was your car tuned on the road?

it is definetly detonation, have seen it time and time again

this may be so

the plug is an iridium or platnum plug designed not to melt or vapourise in upto 100,000k's it has melted why do you think this is?

consider yourself lucky it has not cost you motor 2 from the sounds of it and retune it!!!

I refused to tune nesh's car to the limit cause his previous tune had melted a plug to not even this extent!!!

run it at 300 for a month if still ok then bring it back upto 409

good luck with it!!!

Now that the plugs have been changed and the car tuned, do the plugs need to be checked at any certain point after seeing a plug in that state? Or will it be fine because it has been tuned? Can detonation happen again after it has been tuned?

Nesh
