I was wondering why it was spluttering its head off and then I thought I would check the coils and plugs.

Got to number four, took the plug out and my heart sank.......................

1300kms and I wonder what damage has been done - the search starts for the end of the plug.

1. It has somehow embedded itself in the head or piston

2. It has blown out the exhaust and fu%$ked the turbo on its way

3. It has wedged itself between my brand new forged piston and the cylinder wall to absolutely gouged the cylinder wall to death

I hope it is 1 or 2. An endoscope will be used next weekend to look around the combustion chamber before I pull the turbo off to get it rebuilt.

Mother Fu%$ker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :laughing::blush::tease::nono:

The piece hasn't fallen off it has melted off from detenation.I would think that your list of 3 will be fine.It may have broken a ring land. A comp and leak down test should helf you test if that has happened

The plugs are about 2000kms old - the others are just fine.

It only had a new bottom end put in it - why would you re-tune it? And the plug wasn't over tightened - although I fail to see how that would have broken the end off it??

you would need to retune it, different comp ratio's ect. and that is definetly from detonation, not just breaking off
