Bf Xr6t Under Damped?

A week after the complimentary service (love the 0W40 Castrol Edge) I took my BF XR6T on a 2500km trip from Sydney to Melbourne and back. I stopped with the family at some great places along the way. Averaged 11.5 L/100 Kms. The T was superb, except that….

I can’t help but feeling it is under or at least poorly damped. The T would still be wallowing after the bumpy roads were a fair way past. So….

Do other people share my view?

What mods work? Koni? Bilstein? Other?

Koni or Bilstein would be a good choice with 27mm front anti roll bar. About $1500 all up and a VERY good mod if you like your car to handle. I have the Koni's and F/R AR bars and it has transformed the car into a more point and shoot handling, unlike the wallowing whale it was before.

Thanks for the advice. A few qustions:

Where did you buy the shocks and bars from?

Will fitting them effect my warranty?

What size rear bar did you fit?

I might jump in here if that's ok Zap...

They were done at Dr Shocks in Brookvale, Syd. Another bloke 'theblackpig' got his shocks done there too, and will soon be getting the swaybars as well.

Front swaybars are whiteline 27mm, the rear bar is 22mm. Both adjustable (can also get non-adjustable).

Thanks to comments from Zap and 'theblackpig', I'll be sorting my own F6 out with some Bilsteins and upgraded adjustable swaybars from the same place in but a couple of weeks.

As for warranty, it won't affect anything at all, though obviously you wont be going to Ford if something should go wrong with the new parts themselves (cant think what would).

I wont be touching springs though, as I like the height of the F6 the way it is.

I went to Dr Shocks last week as I had a clunking from the Antiroll bar. 2 mins on the hoist and it was sorted.

Speaking to Tony he was commenting on the blackpig's car and how awsome the Bilstiens were. He just got a new BF GTP and will be fitting these shocks to his own car. I also told him about the Tein Coilovers as an option.

If I was going to track the car, I would get the Tein, but given all the choices, I would go the Bilstiens and F/R AR bars.

I'm with you on this. For the first few hundred ks, all is nice and firm working well, and then it hit's about 1000 and starts to go down hill from there.

Wallowing, unsettled on bumps, cornering not so sharp, corning with bumps downright scary and I'm not even giving it any.

Looks like some good suggestions here.

Have a read of this, based on BAmk1 but I guess still relevant.
