A rumour hot off the press. I hear that Ford are racing two showroom spec (no mods) XR6 Turbo's in the Targa Tasmania starting this weekend. From what I hear one of the driver's is well known in the motoring world, but not necessarily a race car driver. I hope they do it. It would be awesome to see the T kick butt against the Monaro and Astra Turbo!

Brocky did allright last year in a stock Monaro if I remember correctly... and I think we'll all agree that the T is a better car than the Monaro.

With a decent driver behind the wheel, who knows what the T is capable of??? A victory... I doubt it (especially with all those Porches that are let loose), but a top 10 finish is well within reach.

66. S. Richards-J. Cole (Vic) V8 Expensive Daewoo Monaro 4-hr 3-mins 53-secs

these are 2002 placings im sure. let me know if not. either way that's sum stiff competition for top 10,we all love these cars but if a stock T can keep up wif 911, gtrs, evo's and the like thru the twisties and place in the top 10 ill bare my arse, u must remember that the monaro brock drove was seriously modded

"Modifications to the Monaros will include installing roll cages, Headers exhaust, fine-tuning engine calibration, newly-designed Harrop brakes, Momo seats, revised suspension, and they will be fitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE54OS tyres."

Expensive Daewoo would not give up engine specs for sum reason, though obviously it must have been a bit of a jump above stock specs to place so highly against such other powerful cars

and the hyundai had had sum work done as well. also targa is a bas*ard of a rally weather and road wise, thus y u c highly place AWD's. but good luck to em, Targa tasmania is an awesome race, I used to love watching it come through my home town

The monaros were far from stock last year. They ran different exhaust, tyres, suspension, brakes and complete change of engine management.

I think the driver may be Steve Hoinville, who I think is a suspension engineer (guru) and BA Supercar test driver for Ford.

Then again, I may be wrong.
