Anyway they were talking to Ford engineers and stated that Ford has consistently under rated their enginges by 10kw. Why I don't know.
Guest SIK_XE Guests Posted 09/12/02 06:39 AM Share Posted 09/12/02 06:39 AM all this power and torque on tap is great except...1 slight problem...we had one come back to us today and he had snapped the left engine mount clear in half. this took us 1-1.5 hours to diagnose as the great clunk that it was causing sounded like it was in the rear end but instead it was the engine leaping out of position and hitting the bonnet.so be CAREFULL. fortunatley this is covered by warantee but I'd hate to see any of you without your machine. enjoy

OUCH!hope it's not a sign of things to come.....Ford cannot afford for quality/reliability issues to bite them now the car is so popular. I'd hate to see all those orderes cancelled
Guest MrSparkle Guests Posted 09/12/02 10:20 AM Share Posted 09/12/02 10:20 AM Yeah that's a strange one! The testing procedures at the proving grounds include hundreds of consecutive "hard takeoffs", so I'd love to find out how it happened!

My car obviously wasn't tested properly... had the bolt on the sway bar nearly come off.. its fixed not but it was a worry 3 days after taking it home..Also heard yesterday that another guy took his XR6T back to the dealer as it was missing gears, and found it to be a problem with the gear box. Guest KiwiXR6T Guests Posted 10/12/02 05:57 AM Share Posted 10/12/02 05:57 AM Sounds a little sketchy to me too..... Maybe he got a bit excited and tried a few creek jumps - General-Lee style?? Didn't by chance have a Expensive Daewoo jacket on and a hammer in the back seat did he?? Ford are DAMN hard on the cars during testing, so I don't think you soon-to-be owners have much to worry about.....
