:spoton:

Farken oath it would have been. It would have left a mess in my pants that's for sure

Wouldn't have thought it would pierce the glass like that though :spoton:

It had a sharp edge. Here's a picture of the sign on the ground. You can see a diagonal line that shows the depth it went into the glass, also some broken bolts on the sign.

The dick had it set up in an "A" format on the van and it just tore off. It was attached to the the old "gutter clip" style roof racks with hinges then both signs were bolted through a steel rod at the top.

My advice: don't ever complain about blind spots caused by your A-pillar. That was all that saved me with this thing.

Hey Damo what was the outcome?

Scotty

Hey Scotty,

Well, the bonnet was beautifully repaired, as were the driver's door and guard - a credit to the smash repairer. Also got a new dash, steering wheel and ICC. The dash and steering wheel were peppered with glass splinters. Not at all happy with the work done by the auto "electrician" who replaced the dash

At the end of the day, the girlfriend and I were lucky we were wearing sunnies and VERY lucky to escape with only a few cuts and scratches.

Well, after I had everything repaired I had a mobile guy come out to me at work and installed a new patch antenna on the windscreen for my car kit. He had one look under the dash and said "um, have you had some work done to this car?" and I told him what had happened. He told me that the underside of the dash was a  fight and that the person who'd put it all back together didn't know what they were doing. Parts from my car kit messed in with the car's loom, alarm wiring all over the shop, etc.

And in the heat of summer, the electrical tape that they'd used to hold everything up gave way and wires started falling down. These guys didn't even use cable ties. I dealt with it for a while but some more stuff fell down this week so I'll have to go back and get it sorted.

So yeah, all fixable but just frustrating.

All this talk about Tassie and this years cruise fell through. Sounds like the drive of a life. Hope one for 2007 is organised but we'll have to drive to Melbourne for the start as the boat up here in Sydney got axed.
