Well there's been sillier questions asked in the past :smilielol:.

If that's the case then it has to be something electronic. What about if you're in 'performance mode' auto and in third gear, will it let you change down to second by knocking it forward manually?

Yes it dose, it dose change into second when manualy shifting but as long as its not under load/high revs. Its got me stuffed im just going to have it checked out.

It's a weired one.

let Ford sort it out. Its their problem (I assume its under warranty). In this day of electronics it can be very difficult to pin point the problem without diagnostic equipment.

You can rule out the box cause that works correctly in every other respect.

There would be a couple of sensors in the shifter which would be my first port of call.

Unless someone else has had this problem and can tell you what fixed it, (that is if Ford cant/wont/dont know yet how to fix it), it might just be one of those things you have to live with for a while.

Thanks man the warranty ran out about 3 weeks ago.but ill take it there anyway the thing is I had a auto fail already and there just going to say a trash it to much so I no they will charge me

'
