I like the look of the Aurion. It looks like a more cohesive, free flowing and sporty design than the BF as well as the VE Commodore.

I hope these cars do well, and they will. The competition will only force Ford and GMH to lift the quality standards.

If a supercharged version were released, made to look tougher, and was set up to avoid torque steer (much like the new Mazpa 3MPS which I've driven - a seriously quick little car), it would be a car I'd consider taking for a drive. The Aussie car enthusiast needs more to chose from than just an SS, XR8, XR6T etc.

Bring it on Toyota...

Ford, your move..

unfortunately toyota as a manufacturer is not synonymous in australia in making performance sedans. Camry is type-cast as the "grandpa car", hence why they have released the Aurion to hopefully get a fresh start.

overseas, toyota was making some quick sedans over 10 years ago with the aristo and the chaser with the 1JZGTE 3.0L twin turbo from the toyota supra!

toyota never raced around the mountain, and therefore doesn't get the respect from your red (or blue) blooded aussie male. the build quality and engineering in toyota vehicles is world class, hence why they are one of the biggest manufacturers in the world.

I would drive an aurion out of curiosity to see how it goes, but I would only own a RWD performance sedan, and it has got to have the blue oval on it in order to have any street cred with me ;)

ps: theres nothing wrong with fwd, they are more predictable in the wet and safer to drive, well that's just me.

Ya think?

I'm afraid you'll have trouble convincing me that a car with handling traits in the wet go from understeer to terminal understeer is safe - and not everyone has the ability to use the handbrake to induce oversteer when needed - and even more importantly not every front drive car has a rear wheel handbrake.

FWD safe in the wet? Phtttt!

300+rwkw XR6T safe in the wet. :smilielol: PFFTTTTTT

Why do so many people love sh*t canning other makes of cars.

With a RWD you can atleast keep the car pointing where you want to go, FWD dont have a rep for being a Pole magnet for nothing

Mate if people are hitting poles in there front wheel drive, then they cannot drive. We all know that if you look at something and say please dont hit that you will. Front wheel drives are not my favourites. But they are no worse than a big heavy car prone to understeer in the wet (Insert xr6T here).

I must say Mitshubishi are pumping out some hot little hatches at the mo. If I was that way inclined then I would buy one. I hope they keep there head above water. I would much rather Japanese cars than Korean. Bring back the AWD Mitshubishi, give us something to chase throught he windy bits.

scotty ive owned my fair share of FWD so I speak from expirience, all it takes is a slippery round about and you can be caught off guard and nearly end up a gutter without doing something silly. Ive never even been close to having something like that happen in the T even when I was being a outright tool

All I can say is slow in fast out. Applies for FWD, AWD and RWD. I love my Ford's and that is preety much all I have owned, but I do appreciate other car types and manufacturers.

My 2c says if you own a FWD some slight modifications are needed to driving style are required. But there are no problems with a FWD car.

OK, I have a 1984 corolla with a 100kw 4AGE in it(RWD), and I've driven and owned a 1988 twin cam corolla, same engine just different drive type. Theres a corner around from mine that I give it a hit now and then in my "T" and the fastest and safest I can go around it is bout 65 or so, my 1984 rola (before being written off=rear ended) bout 80 or so but the front driver with no mods to suspension almost 90.... with understeer yes, but the other, 2 back wheels come out then almost doin donughts. RWD hmmmm...good for drifting :spoton:

Why is it that in Rallies and such AWD owns, then FWD then RWD.......

I've competed with my previous car club in many RWD cars but loved FWD, keep the power down and go.....EG, 110 rwhp corolla 2 drivers same car, my mate was quicker(more experince) was 3 secs slower than a bog stock 4AC power AE82 sedan...hmmm why...freaking oversteer and backwheels spin to much. But more fun..that's why I dont bag out front drivers, just when too much power is put down to the front bye bye CV's and traction issues. T

All depends on drivin style too, but dont bag out a car that hasnt been released yet or has had a time to be proven wrong....The BA when first released was great look at it now, handbrake probs, T5 issues, brakes issues with early models...do these sound like a car that's great, I own a BA xr6t, but not too fussed bout them coz they are fixable, but since when did toyota need a "FIX' for any of their cars...maybe a RWD V8 Camry sprortivo will be good...1UZFE power

I got the "T" as potential coz VX ss was a ripoff, plus I like turbos

If you dont like the Aurion dont buy it, no ones askin you to buy one anyway, and if you dont like FWD cars dont get one, just dont bag them out if you dont own one..They werent made for nothing, obvisiouly there was a reason for it, look at HONDA, best FWD cars out and handle great go to a Improved production round in NSW and see for yourself, MIVEC mirages and Hondas dominate RWD cars struggle
