Hi guys,

just had the 30k service done and my last oil consuption test(over a period of 3000km with a test every 1k) it average about 180ml to 200ml per 1000km.If you do the math on say 200ml that's 1Lt per 5000km and 3Lt per service intervails(15,000km) half the engine capacity .What do you think my chances are on getting a new donk through warrenty. Also the Diff is rat :pooh: agian this will be diff number 3 inculding orgina.l I was told by the service guys when I first complaned about the diff he told me that the diffs have been rectified and are hand built by a thrid party company and sould have no more probs. well 15,000km later I got the same problem. how many diffs have you guys had under warrenty.

cheers Envi XR8 :spoton:

A mate just had his XR8 engine replaced under warranty as it was going through more than 1lt between services every 10,000 klm.

Personally my T never used oil to warrant topping up between services at 15,000 klm. Never needs oil top ups now as I changed to 7,500 klm oil changes.

I changed the oil and filter at 5k and intend to keep changing at 5K. Do you think that this is an overkill. I live in the country and the ute is travelling at 100km most of the time.

There is quite a lot of discussions on oil changes here. I think it's generally agrees that every 15,000klm is too long.

I think quite a lot of people change every 7,500klm and I know there are those that change every 5,000klm.

It's definetly the owners choice but I'm happy with every 7,500klm.

As it has also been stated here it's cheap insurance to change more frequently.

Every motor and I state again every motor uses some oil 180 to 200 ml's in 1000 km's is sweet stuff all if that is al you use than mate you have a great motor and do not change it.

Even up to 600 ml per 1000 km is very little.

Motors need to use a little bit of oil.
