I saw a Black F6 (Ba I think) at Mnt Ommaney today with a Boss Bonnet a fat set of rubber and Quads out the rear.

The panel work looks like someones ex missus went to town on it with a golf club.

Apart from the panel work and being in dire need of a wash it looked sweet.

G'day Queenslanders,

I was in your state over the weekend and I didn't notice too many Falcons around the place, but I was bissy taking in the Ipswitch/toll gate :roflmbo: /Amberely scenery.

Anyway I was heading to Brissy airport this morning from RAAF Amberely and I saw a mint silver BF F6 with custom "OBF - 147" plates. Nice looking car.

You guys have a very nice state, I saw a great deal of the area around Willowbank, Ipswitch, Amberely and Rosewood...etc from the air as I was at RAAF Amberely for an air exercise and I clocked up a few hours airtime. QLD is beautifiul, especially from the air, the traffic though, compared to WA WA land is :censored::censored: haha.

Spotted quite a few nice BA/BFs around the bayside this morning.

Saw a shockwave XR6T ute, XRT14 I think it was. I was cruising with 3 other XRs.

Yeah Willowbank was actuly one of the reference points we used to come inbound. We flew out of Amberley heading north then we turned left and flew around Rosewood, are you sure you don't mean to the East? Im pretty sure Willowbank and all that is out to the east - ahh bloody confusing east coast. On the way back in we would point the aircraft a little past the southern end of Amberley which would take us right over Willkowbank.

Twas awesome seeing the raceway were I've read about countless rly rly rly fast XR6T's from the air. Actually Twas awesome seeing the Queensland scenery from the air, it's so diversley different to the flat terrain we have over here, and Amberley OMG that base is like the size of Perrrf.

I rekkon QLD would be the best place to live, apart from PERTH of course! Unfort I didnt get to see a great deal else.... just what was between Amberley and Brissy Airport (ie: roadworks, traffic jams and TOLL GATES :spit: ) OMG on the drive bakk to the airport I was thinking "y would anyone here need an XR6T theres no chances to go above idle anyway" because they have this wierd phenomenon in the eastern states called traff - fic (I think I said that right??)

Anyway you guys have a bloody nice state and I can't wait to be able to go back!

Oh and Chic I bet it would have been N O I S Y living under the Amberley flight path yes?

Hey Kael I live about 20 mins from willowbank. and it is a great area. I think in your travels you drove on some of the worst raods for traffic in south east Qld. The ipswich motorway and the gateway. Not all the roads around here are that bad.

I know a few guys that work at the base. So next time ya come back let me know. I'll take for a cruise on some of the better roads if ya got some spare time.

Cheers Pete

Thanks mate :spoton:

Your spot on the scenery and landscape around there is breathtaking... Can't wait to come back... It's so different, and good, pulling out of one town, and only being a matter of kays from another centre unlike WA WA land were you are miles from anything once outside Perrf. Ooooh cant wait to be back, next year when Im in the Air Force I'll be based there with some luck, so I'll have a good chance to check it all out!

Thanks again, Cheers Kael.

hey Kael

south slightly west to be precise :spoton:

there are a cazillion good country and hinterland roads, and like xrpete said, you just happen to be on the 2 roads getting major overhauls.

the flightpath at one stage went right over the property/house, nothing like a F111 going for it that deadly silence then BOOM!! :buttrock: Friday arvos used to be Hercules and Quantas trainee pilots.... up arounddddddddddddd down up arounddddddddd down yawn.gif Did you go to 3AD Hangar , back in the day it was the biggest in the southern hemisphere coulda been out done by now.

what do you fly?

lol @ the cops flying over... they are friggin LOUD I know.... poor you :D

The hanger we were operating from was up the far end of the main runway (close to the piano keys of runway 15) and it is the first of the new ones that are being built to house the new Airbus KC-30B Tanker platforms when they arrive eventually. Not sure the designation, but I can tell you that it is FRIGGIN BIG. It seemed even bigger against the small POS I flew up to my aircraft we were flying in the exercise, the Piper Tomahawk... I don't usually fly them, over here in WA the Cessna 152 is more popular with students, that’s what I used in training to get my GFPT (restricted licence) but once you move into Nav training for ya full private licence u move up to the equally poo Cessna 172 for longer range abilities..etc etc.

OMG the best part about Amberely? The free ice cream machine in the Sergeants mess. MMMMM FREE ICE CREAM... It's awesome being in the AAFC, even kno I’m a 17 Y.O cadet flight sergeant and been in there like 4 years ya still get the Senior NCO privileges that RAAF Corporals of 10 years don't... good times.

I rekkon that whole area would be mad as for cruises, lots of towns, scenery, places to look at... etc etc. If I get accepted into the Air Force next year I'll be spending some time there next year so could bust out with the Queensland crew! ...But then you mods would have to delete bulk posts from both the WA and QLD forums...

Cheers Kael.

so when you get in we'll just call you "fly boy" :w00t2:

that airbus makes a Starlifter look like a glider...

why would we have to delete your posts ? are you going undercover? :spoton:
