What Is The Quickest Way Off The Line?

How many K's does the vehicle have. You should really notice the difference in car performance after about 6000km on the clock. They drive completely different after approx this many k's. And do as the others above have said..

Guys Goat said he has an auto and half you blokes are giving instrutions for a manual which won't be much help.

Best way to launch a stock auto T is to first learn your cars stall limits. By this I mean the point at which the rear wheels will break traction whilst holding the break and using the accelerator. This is usually around 2200rpm. Once you have this sorted it's just a matter of turning off TC and when at a red light having your foot firmly on the brake and using the throttle to get the car to 2200rpm when the light goes green let go of the brake and give it full throttle. If you find you are breaking traction try lowering it to 2100rpm.

Something else that can help alittle is to do a slow burnout to put a bit of heat into the tyres. When controlled properly this won't make alot of noise or smoke and should help give an even better launch.

lol, this thread is nearly 3 years old! as I recall I posted it after getting spanked off the line by a maloo...

at the time the car had under 1000kms on it. 2yrs, 70,000kms and one collision later it was another ex-fleet car sold at auction.

anyway, as Geea described above is the best way I found to get it moving.

Wouldnt doing this ocassionally put a hell of a lot of strain on the auto gearbox raving the bugger with the brake on?

Yes. There would be more load on the auto. If you did this at every set of lights, over a period of time the auto would suffer. If done occasionally it wouldn't cause any problems. Loading the convertor will mainly generate heat which won't be an issue with normal driving.

if you are run stock tyres then its a was of time smoking then up (it looking good) as the Dunlops turn to mush if you smoke them up to much.

Go through the water and just turn them so that there clean and stage.

I do this all the time and I pull a 13.936 on stock tyres and stock turbo manual gearbox. :stirthepot:
