Have very fond memories of Brockie punting the original Austin A30 around Oran Park and cleaning up all the local sports sedans of the day. Also at Amaroo Park and at Bathurst.

He really was a naturally quick but sympathetic driver who, when it was needed, could absolutley wring the neck of anything he was driving.

I recall reading an article of when he drove the old Appendix A Torana at the Goodwood festival of speed and brought a standing ovation from the massive crowd.

My son and I attended his book launch at a time when we had plans to eventually do the Tassie Targa, he autographed the book for us and wrote "Go the McCarthy boys.

Very sad week indeed.

A shame to hear the passing of such a great motoring legend  but I would'nt put him the Aussie ikon status as what the late and great Steve Irwin is

Two totally different people but both worthy of recognition in there own right.

Regardless of whether you have red or blue blood in your veins, its a sad day for motor sport fans. Met him on several occassions and he was a truly great bloke. RIP Peter Brock, you will be sadly missed.
