Yeah, EXCEPT he has conveniently forgotton the Tickfords especially the T3 which whipped the General's @rse but good.

However I know exactly where he's coming from with his basic argument and I felt the same during the entire E series Fords - there simply wasn't an eight that was offered that could match the opposition - in fact couldn't even match the Ford 6. So I was happy, more than happy, to keep my old ZL Fairlane right up 'til the T3 came on the map. Now, sadly, Ford have gone back to the E series days with no competitive V8 worth looking at

What dribble the Boss V8 is the quickest Ford EVER to come out of this country and the car its craddled in doesn't look like mungrel dog :pooh::innocent:

T3....you mean people actually drive those things? :yeahyeah:

Only discerning people who are able to recognize and appreciate a true all-round performance machine ... :yeahyeah:

Blueboost,

You're probably correct in regards to a decent tune, exhaust etc doing wonders for the 8s, but its just the whole insurance/warranty thing that weighs on my mind.

Getting warranty stuff done is tough enough at the best of times, and honestly, I don't know if I could be bothered trying to explain to some clown at the Service desk why an exhaust modification isn't the reason why the gearbox flew apart or whatever.

Likewise insurance. There's never a problem until you've got to claim, and if you've really bent your car, you'd be amazed at how hard an assessor will look at the vehicle when there's the prospect of a claim for thousands of $$$.

Sorry, but my preference is stock for the moment at least. I know that will always mean compromises, but it should be a damned competitive car straight off the factory floor. You shouldn't have to buy then car, then spend $$$ modifying it with all the associated insurance/warranty issues JUST to bring it up to spec with the competition. Just my 20c worth.

Brent.

I take your point Brent,

if the cars have got in in them to start with, well why not ford stretch them a bit more.

I would like ford to give an opional gearing and tyre choice. if they put better griping tyres on like Expensive Daewoo do, and an opional extra sport suspenion in them, these cars will easly match what Expensive Daewoo is doing, but I don't think ford feels that is what the main streem of buyers want, and they might be right to by the way they have been out selling them. Good idea. A slightly lower diff ratio would be a good start for better off the line response. In this Australian police state we live in, do we really need moonshot gearing? Unfortunately we don't live in Germany where you can cruise at a lazy 140-160kph and give it the odd rip to 200+.........that's where some higher gearing works well. As for here? 100kph? Pffffftttttt!!!!!!

Sorry you'll have to jog my memory as I must have forgotton - what does this have to do with the point again???

The BOSS V8s cannot beat the opposition - they can't even beat the T6. This was the crux of the argument as I recollect.

But my dinosaur memory probably matches my dinosaur car eh? You DO remember my dinosaur car don't you? It's the one you were viewing the @rse of around Wakefield Park for a short time - until it disappeared up the road away from your BOSS V8.
