Speaking of TV...

there is a special "tribute to steve irwin" on channel nine tonight 7.30 hosted by ray martin.

The man did so many great things (especially for this part of the country where I live) he more than deserves the accolades he is receiving!!

*****INSENSITIVITY WARNING*****

Just like the one on Seven last night, every news broadcast since the fateful event and the radio stations turning in to talkback therapy for their listeners?

Yes it’s sad for his family etc. but it is far from an unexpected occurrence considering what he does (did).

Tab, I said the same thing to my wife last night, that the media will beat this up just like Beaconsfield.

The death of Crock Hunter is very sad, but it is not deserving of so many relentless hours of TV tributes. There are 1000's of people dieing all over the world, yet the media are trying to make us feel really sad about one TV personality.

I am astounded that they compare his death to Dianna or JFK. I think even SI himself would be embarrassed by all the attention this is getting.

His Father said today that SI would not want a state funeral as he is an ordinary bloke. HE also asked the media to give the family a break...

As your certainly entitled to do - your statement reminded me of our leerless feeder's famous quote during the last Liberal Party Annual bash ...

It's my Party and I'll lie if I want to

Nah,

I pay for my TV, Foxtel IQ.

I fully understand that millions of people will mourn his passing, which is understandable.

My beef is with the fake compassion the TV networks spew all over the tv and make it look sincere. They should report the facts, not keep trying to inflate and create them

Shazzy, I am sorry if you thought I was having a go at your loss, I was not and understand everyone sees his passing differently.

I understand completely what you are saying Zap, media - sincere one minute - defaming the next. (and germaine greer  )

For me Steve Irwin is a bloke who was High Functioning, passionate and able to channel his abilities towards a good cause and educating people in a fun entertaining manner.

I see him as a man who didn't just talk about it but

"GOT OFF HIS ASS AND MADE IT HAPPEN" :spoton:

I also think money would be better utilized and more appreciated by the man himself by donating to wildlife warriors, as opposed to gifts etc

http://www.wildlifewarriors.org.au/in_the_.../irwinsinc.html

be good to see the pollies put the value of the cost of a state funeral into the above fund.

RIP Croc Man
