I've got all sorts of bloody car care sh*t, but what do you guys use when actually going hands on?

Is it wise to say, use a microfibre cloth to wash your panels in place of a sponge (realising the cloth prolly wont last)? My paint is still immaculate (apart from the odd chip) and I'd like to keep it that way.

I always buff off the polish etc with microfibre (so, so soft), thought I might use a seperate one when washing the panels.

Sponge for the wheels and other areas though.

Thoughts?

I use microfibre washing mat and microfibre chamie for drying, microfibre clothes for waxing. That way u will avoid swirl marks on your paint work. Use Australian own Bowdens washing product. Very happy with the results.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I've ended up using my biggest microfibre cloth and folding in into quarters. Worked a charm - really soft yet it swept up the dirt no worries. Best part is, cos it holds so much water, there's no chance of even little scratches unlike combersome sponges IMO.

I haven't seen that lambswool sponge shazzy, is that the meguiars mit?

Have to check out that microfibre chamois too Russ, never come across that one before, sounds interesting.

Oh and Blonk, if one of your GFs has a spare moment, can I borrow one? Mine don't to sh*t around here.

I still reckon the best method is a cap full of kerosene in a bucket of water ... then use a car washing sponge. Dry off with a towell. Been doing this for years. The marketing people will throw a bucket of cold water on the method becasue they are pushing the high priced car washing chemicals.
