Reason for this is to see why my mirror won't adjust up or down, only in and out. ms700 Moderating Team 10,170 Member For: 22y 2m 14d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 30/08/06 06:51 AM Share Posted 30/08/06 06:51 AM You can remove the outer mirror cover, the colour coded bit......There are 3 tabs, put pressure on the cover so when you release the tabs, it will progressively move away.Grab a long bladed flat screwdriver, and angle the mirror away from the tab you are working on. Push the tab away from the lug you are working from, and put a little pressure so the tab doesn't click back into place.Repeat this process for the other two tabs, and it sould come away. It is hard to describe, but once you have done it, you will know exactly what I am on about! Hope this helps! Ninka Donating Members 1,850 Member For: 22y 3m 21d Gender: Male Location: Perth, WA Posted 30/08/06 06:55 AM Share Posted 30/08/06 06:55 AM The outer shell is a "clip on" design, and I have found no easy way of removing them.They have 3 or 4 lugs, which catch on plastic clips inside the black part of the mirror, and what I have done is to leverage with a screwdriver, until the clips let go.The catch is that some the lugs on the coloured part of the mirror may break if you are unlucky, and then it's time for the super glue I had a look in the Ford manual, and there is no description on removing the part, so it is probably not designed to be removed.Hope this is of some help. Lifetime Members 5,368 Member For: 19y 9m 7d Gender: Male Location: The 8th Dimension Posted 30/08/06 08:50 AM Share Posted 30/08/06 08:50 AM Had to replace my drivers mirror after someone clipped the mirror and spread the wreakage for about thirty meters after where I had parked.Two things to watch out for, their are two screws hidden under the door card and be very careful not to drop the screws into the door as they are a bastard to get out. Other than that its an easy job you should have everything back together in under an hour.
