It does make sense.I am running 330kw at the rears with a slightly modded auto($1500) and Iknow that it wont last too much longer. Better to spend your money later on abroken box than to spend it now whilst your auto is still working. The chance isthat what ever you do to modify the auto it will be some other part that was notmodified that will break.SAVE YOUR MONEY UNTIL IT IS TIME TO DO IT.KILLER←Sorry mate have to STRONGLY disagree on that one...Strenghten them before they fail. When there are breaking down contaminents from the component(s) that are failing pollute the whole box. You start with a slipping 2nd gear band and wind up with a scored and rooted second gear plantery case, metal from that goes through the plantery and chips/breaks teeth in them etc etc etc..the sooner you get them strenghtened and fit a decent cooler the better off you will be in the long run.How do i know this? I let mine run till it almost lost drive and had to replace the input shaft, all the clucth bands and plates and the 2nd gear drum and all the solenoids as they where full of metal contaminents. it went from a simple $1600 strenghten and freshen up to $2700 rebuild. I'd much rather spend $1600 early in the piece and fit a decent cooler than have it completly sh*t its self and pay almost twice as much....but hey thats just me...you know the old saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... I totally agree. And from a cost factor, anything that can be saved should reduce your rebuild bill. If a builder is telling you to break it, he's just trying to get MORE cashola.
