I use the 0W40 Edge in my BFX R6T and could not be happier.

Put it in at 1,500 and now have 5,000 on the clock. I have not used any oil, my engine runs cool and quiet, revs smoothly and starts easily.

What else do you want from an oil?

In my view $140 or so every 7500 kms is money well spent. Oil is cheap - engines are expensive.

I'd support 0W40 Edge - with a slow oil leak out the timing cover in my current T - I think adding to the oil pressure with 10W60 might not be the best thing?

I'm going to play it safe running 0W40 as it is the same spec as in the manual for operating viscosity....unless running a thicker oil is of a benefit for these cars - that's what I'm not sure on.

I went to a Penzoil information night a few weeks ago and the guy speeking was a Penzoil employee for over 20 years. He knew heaps about oils and additives.

He was amazed that in Australia we use such thick oils. The main oils used OE in the US are 15 to 20 weight and you guys are talking 60 !

Why do you need such a thick oil. Are you running big clearences? I wouldnt think so.

The thicker the oil the more horsepower needed to pump in around.

That therefore translates into decreased efficiancy. that's simple.

The US emission laws are very stringent and getting tougher. They want people to change their oil every 3000 miles to keep all the suspended contaminants out of the atmosphere. Its a big deal for them.

I have been a fan of 0w40 Mobil one for years but now use 5w40 with equal confidence . If they were bringing 0w20 into the country I would use it.

60 weight oil is like steping back to 1955. The yanks havent even used 25/50 for about 20 years.

That was the norm for me. Anyone who enjoys their ride and wants to look after it is usually of the same mind set.

I agree but whey do manufacturers say 15000 km.

They dont car about the car. They say look its cheep to service.

Then all the problem with oil galleries blocking after warranty is over..yada yada, get the picture.

15k intervals is way to long for most cars, but it sounds good during the sales pitch.

Penzoil 10w-40 for me, every 7,500kms.

you'll actually find, that in the owners manual it says turbo cars need the oil changed every 7500 or 5000kms I can't remember exactly which one.. and failure to do so will void warranty.. says it in the finer print  I change mine every 5000kms.

I rang castrol today, and he said that either the 10-60 or 0-40 would be ok to use, but said for my conditions (canberra, and I rarely belt the car) that a 0-40 would be best.
