Guest EGOXRT Guests Posted 25/08/06 01:12 PM Share Posted 25/08/06 01:12 PM Noticed a bit of what sounds like Gudgeon pin noise today after warming the car up. I have only had the car for two weeks and haven't noticed this before, oil level is normal although I had to put 2 litres in it the other day. So much for the dealer checking levels when I picked it up. Sounds like a very faint and intermittent "clack clack" at idle cycling every 4 to 5 seconds. I couldn't hear it over the rumble from the gearbox in the past, but I had the door open and my foot on the clutch when I heard it today. The car has 9500km on the clock, just wondering if anyone else has this same sound??? I must say what a poor gearbox this 6 speed is also, sounds like it is going to rattle to pieces at idle, front bearing or something. Has anyone else got the same problem with their t 6 speed?? Guest EGOXRT Guests Posted 27/08/06 01:41 AM Share Posted 27/08/06 01:41 AM In this day and age of technological superiority, things like like shouldn't even be in the equation when spending that sort of money. Where does ford get off telling people that "its a performance car" and drive train noise is acceptable. I wonder if BMW or Mercedes has the same attitude with its customers?? Makes me wonder who is in bed with who, as all these cars ever received were accolades. Everyday I find a new noise, steering rack creeks, diff shunt, creeks in the rear parcel shelf area, now engine noises and on a car that has only done 9500km. I hate to imagine what it will be like at 100,000km, I will be doing my utmost to have every little thing repaired under warranty, even if it means war. None of these faults are acceptable by any means.

Do you think a merc or bmw thats cost 40k would be much better? they have just as many problems as our lowly aussie built fords and holdens. There is member here who drives a truck that delivers gear boxes to a waranty centre for either BMW or MERC and he has some interesting stories to tell too...have a read around find out what the common problems/fixes are with these cars and then get you car edited and enjoy.... BTW jchitsos welcome to the forum...
Guest EGOXRT Guests Posted 27/08/06 08:43 AM Share Posted 27/08/06 08:43 AM Thanks Hiddeous. My main point is, from all the posts I have read on this forum there is a basic complaint appearing. Dealers telling people that a noisy gearbox, diff and everything else associated with these cars is within "normal limits". Should we accept this and fork out to have diffs and boxes rebuilt, as the replacement Ford units will more than likely be just as bad if not worse. Ford and all the manufactures should step up to the plate and do the right thing by its customers, don't treat people like idiots. Do there advertising campaigns tell you that because you are buying a car built at a price point expect diff shunt, rumbling gearboxes etc etc. No mate, all you hear is CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT, well how much more s--t do you want. I did do some research on what I was getting but as you so clearly state what else do you get for that money. The choices are pretty limited to Expensive Daewoo vs Ford and being a Ford man I chose what I thought was the better car. I must say also that the Expensive Daewoo buyers also face the same fate with same boxes and diffs to contend with. The problems make an otherwise beautiful car something of a pain to drive as you are constantly watching the way you use the clutch as to stop the car from sending backlash shivers through your spine!! Gets a bit tiring after a while. Now not to get anyone upset and yes I know they are different cars but has anyone taken a ride in the latest 380 Mitsubishi??? Do it and you will see a clear difference in build and engineering. I love the T but perhaps because I am such an avid Ford man, I feel a little disappointed. I have yet to get in an edited car but I from what I hear it makes a hell of a difference, can you guys elaborate. In its stock form I find it to lack a little of that shove you in the seat performance. Anyway these are all my opinions and I am sure not everyone will agree but its all about the drive isn't it!!!! I had an EB that a workshop replaced the gudgeons and main bearings only to fire it up and surprise surprise, still there. Nothing to worry about. Bloody annoying but
Guest EGOXRT Guests Posted 27/08/06 11:50 PM Share Posted 27/08/06 11:50 PM Thanks Hypnodoc, but the sound seems to be coming from the bottom of the car, sump area. You can actually hear it better with the bonnet closed. I might have to get a stethoscope onto it.
