I saw a GT-P the other day with a set of Federal SS595's (I think) in a 245/40/18. I presume that they aren't original equipment so was wondering if anyone had used them and had any impressions on their handling, wear, noise etc.

From the website the 17's seem to be reasonably priced but not sure how the 18's stack up.

The Wheels tyre test earlier this year rated them right up there in the dry, top of the bunch almost, but  house in the wet. Not sure on pricing, all the testing was done with a BF XR6 with 17s.

DO NOT get Federal SS595's whatever you do, read a few good things about them here and in the last Motor tyre test, got a pair for 160 each thanks to Steve at Beaurepaires Yarraville mucking up the quote as they retail at 240 each (free plug for the poor bugger) in a straight line and grip there great but try changing lanes or turning and feels like the entire car is slidding out from under you, they tramline like a mother fcker.

Steer well clear of them. :pooh:

Dagabond,

I have them on my F6 and I can't rate them highly enough. I think they are a 100% improvement on the SP9000. I run mine through some twisty roads and I can take some mild corners up to 15km/k faster on the SS595 than the Dunlops. I also rum mine at 38psi fronts and 36psi rear.

I am really surprised by your experience with them. In the wet the SP9000 are a joke. Any more than 1/2 throttle in second and I loose traction (even from new). The SS595's are heaps better in wet and dry. I'm not trying to turn this into a commercial but the Federals are awesome!

If you try them and don't like 'em, I'll buy them off you(for slightly less of course).
