the blocks are diferent and as well as the head gasket  but you can put the whole thing in with or without factory management been there done that!

Actually I was out shopping for a backhoe - need to dig a deep hole somewhere in my 120 acre backyard.

The BA motor into AU has been done and done ... just need a cable actuated throttle body and the AU ECU controls it nicely. Of course any aftermarket ECU would do the job if you just use the right sensors where required. But you won't get the dual VCT working with the AU ECU I believe - not as yet anyway. Maybe there is a way if the EDIT is used - there was a thread on this at AFF very recently but I don't remember all that was said.

and HEY ... if the AU is so fugly how come every major manufacturer has picked up on it and have copied most of it onto their current offerings??? It was only ugly because it was ahead of it's time - slow-minded and slow-driving Aussie journalists just couldn't cope with such advancement in an Aussie designed and built motor car - and they went on to brainwash the great unwashed followers called the Aussie car-buying motor-mag-reading public. I often wonder what accolades they'd have bestowed on it had say BMW or MB built it?
