Braided hoses and better brake fluid,Better padsBetter calipers / pads and then Better rotorsMy 2cScotty

Oh and stock brakes do suck, 6 spot Brembos rock ←we had a QLD skid pan day and about 6 guys were teaching us all about the cars handling and braking.. The braking lesson was interesting.... it was more then obvious that that the PBR kits stopped quicker then the standard brakes... then after that the Brembos were next best... but Harrop brakes took the day.. pulled the car up much quicker. The standard brake cars and the premium (pbr) brake cars had the same tyres... the cars definately pulled up quicker with premium brakes by quite some margin. Im sure the guys involved cn indicate distance.just an observation on the day that was pointed out by the instructors

Looks like my cheap upgrade is pointless, and I may as well put the $400 towards a $2000 upgrade .. If your stock brakes did not pull you up fast enough because the ABS kicked in, then bigger brakes will not make any difference.Getting better tyres will make a difference, brakes will not.←While my head agree's with you, my experience doesn't. I had various brake upgrades on cars in the past, even cars that I could lock up with the standard brakes, I found could stop a hell of a lot quicker with real brakes.←I'm no physicist, but I gotta say I'm with johng on this one. Not looking for any argument with you, Zap, but I'm SURE I read lots of stuff about bigger/better brakes being able to stop you quicker, given all other things remain constant.I agree fully that better tyres will help you stop quicker too, but I think you'll find that in two otherwise identical cars, but one with PBR brakes and the other with stockies, the PBR equipped one will pull up quicker, even with ABS activated in both.I'm sure someone can come up with the technical reason why, but I can't explain it too well. Imagine a tiny pad pressing onto a rotor. Pressed hard enough, it will 'lock' the rotor (and activate the ABS), but it won't be able to slow down the momentum of the rotor WITHOUT locking it very quickly at all. Now take a huge pad with a massive surface area, it would easily slow down the hefty rotor quite quickly - does that make any sense?
