With the 10Psi Tune, In first gear the boost only goes up to about 6psi for some reason? In about thrid gear it will hit 10psi but very very laggy. But if I am in a too high of a gear for the speed and I put my foot down the turbo will slowly sppol up to 10psi, but when I take off in first it will only go to 6psi. Seems to do it only when there is stress on the engine or somthing? Any tips on how to fins my boost leak?thankscraig

My car will usually hit about 10psi in first, 12 in second, 14 or so in 3rd 15 in 4th and then last night it hit 17psi in 5th.. must have been the cold weather

Max Power Member 381 Member For: 20y 8m Location: MENAI, NSW Posted 20/08/06 11:47 PM Share Posted 20/08/06 11:47 PM Sounds like its fine as there isnt that much load in 1st gear as there would be in say 4th. Check all pressure hoses especially the little ba5tard at the throttle body that you have to pull apart to make sure its secure (underneath slips like mine did). Could also be a faulty actuator although this is less likely.

It should hover between 4.5 and 6psi. If it does this, then the boost gauge is ok if it shows 2 psi or something, then its prob the boost gauge. Also, take it for a spin with the 10psi tune, give it a squirt in 3rd or 4th and see what psi it makes then. When I first put my new tune in, I noticed that 1st gear was boosting a little low, and when I rang Simon he told me to take it for a spin and check 4th gear.. turns out I had a leak anyways, as 4th would only make 10psi not 15. My leak was around the throttle body, I must have forgot to do it up properly as soon as I did that, it boosted to around 10psi in 1st, and 4th was back to usual

Start your car when cold an spray any connections, do around your turbo an exhuast first so your not spraying the liquid on hot exhuast turbo etc. For example my leak is where the turbo bolts onto the manifold! If theres a leak you will see the soapy water making bubbles?.
