OK we all know that uncle Johnny has given us all a $2k incentive to convert to gas and pull himself out of the manure on petrol prices. Whats new?

Over here in the wild west our govt has just put in another $1k so that a conversion will cost you zilch! :msm::msm:

Why question is this.....can our beloved XR6T run on dual fuel like the Mitsu Tritons and what are the ramifications?

Do we need to increase compression ratios?

Do we need a special head?

Do we need a boot?

Can it be done??? I mean just imagine going the A-B stuff on gas and the open road on petrol!! Am I dreaming??

All I know is that the convetional LPG (carby style) is about $2500 fitted and may not be suited to the turbo. But the new injected LPG conversion kits are about $3500 fitted and no power loss with a 10% fuel usage increase on LPG. Something worth looking at :idunno:

No system big enough yet to run the turbo with injected system.

There is old style system that are bigger enough but they will not be adr and emissions complaint so are illegal.

there is a gas system that uses dual fuel

gas for normal power levels and petrol for when max power is required changes

as you go.

I've heard of LPG vapour injected systems that use the Parnell/Prins VSI injected setup, with two gas converters to get the throughput.

The injectors apparently only flow a certain amount (something like 300-350hp I think, don't quote me) though, but the software they use can configure under WOT or heavy loads to inject petrol either simultaneously or instead.

I'm VERY anxiously waiting to hear from anyone who's actually done it on a T though... my booking will be in the same sentence... lol.

Only thing that scares me about LPG on a T is how common it is for N/A LOG cars to back fire and damage the air box. I know of 4 cars that have all had the systems tuned/stalled by different places and they have all damaged air boxes...Imagine what a back fire would do the Turbo..... :censored: I like the idea of light duty work on LPG and Injecting Petrol as required.... :idunno:
