183k's down the 1/4 where there are no other cars or trees........well there was one other car but that was a safe distance behind.

Bit of a wimp when it comes to high speeds, but then again having a horror crash in your younger years will do that to you :pinch:

300+ on the R1 :msm:

Speedo only reads 299 then stops but the rev's kept going around, estimate probably another 30kmh

:nono: Jeez Chooka, you're a madman!! :pinch:

I've 'only' done about 240km/h on my Z1000 (yes, I know, when I still owned it! :fishin: ), but without a full fairing it felt like a lot more! On a private road, of course. :tease:

As for the T, I'm really not into top speeds these days, but I guess I would have had it up to around 160km/h or so. Actually, as a passenger it's probably more than that when I foolishly let the Wog take me for a test drive to check out one of his tunes!:spoton:

The BF XR6 Turbo with the automatic pulled 240 km/h indicated on the back straight (which oddly isn't very straight) at Pukekohe Park Raceway earlier this year... before the speed limiter came on... now I don't know what gear it was in as I'd left the thing in auto and was more interested in finding my braking point for the hairpin... oddly the thing was running against the limiter coming down the front straight off the hill before you get to turn 1...

I have done quicker driving in a Formula Ford - based on where the revs were and the gearing in the set but usually I ain't looking at the speedo during tests - I'm contemplating why it took me till last year to get all the metal fillings replaced with composite ones...

There's a few grey imports ex-Japan that have their 180 km/h limiter verified as operating in similar test situations too.

As a passenger, the quickest I've been was 270 km/h in a car on the ground...according to the data logging on the Motec in a clubman. Still trying to get the bugs out of the teeth for days afterwards as I had to borrow a open faced helmet for the impromptu assignment in the car... ie sitting in the passenger seat with a laptop...

In a train, I think the number is oddly around 240km/h in Europe.

In a plane, ground speed was in a 747-400 in a jet stream over the Arctic... flying from Seoul to L.A. - its apparently quicker if you fly north over the polar ice cap and 'cut the corner' by taking advantage of the oblate spherical nature of the globe (it's flatter at the poles) as well as circling past all the longitudes which are narrowly separated near the poles.... and also to fly down via the Chinook jetstream... ground speed was about 1100 km/h with the airspeed at about 870km/h and the rest from the very fast polar jetstream....

The fastest I've been in a powerboat is a relatively docile 60 knots. I'd prefer not to do that again in similar circumstances. I've been in a sailboat doing something like 30 odd knots but I'd prefer not to do that again either... getting flung around the forestay on a trapeze is not the best way to end your day...

Ha. I thought for sure I'd see posts of "oh, evil!" and "how irresponsible!" when I opened this.

My handbook in the phoon says it's speed limited to 250kmh. It's not.... quite (couple needle widths more before I stepped off). And that was without edit.

The run was completed on my private sealed runway where my chateau is, up in the snowies. Naturally.

Would love to get to 300 one day, before the do-gooders change the road rules up here.... :spoton:

:fishin: Ridiculous your gunna be just as knackered by the time help arrives in a stack at 110 as you are at 210. :pinch:

Sorry, let me refase, change "do-gooders" to "fun-police"

on a side note there was a BA with its ar$e wrapped around a tree burning merrily a week or two ago, I think the driver fell asleep, all got out OK though.

Contrary to what the popular media would have you believe, its not speed that is dangerous, its inapropriate speed for the conditions.
