Yeah it is atm. Nearing the limiter is my guess, as it really dies in the arse after 180. Maybe power? I've run cars that seem to have so much more after that so yeah it must be.

Wouldn't you need to change the gearing also assuming 200mph is approx 320kmh.. So it wouldn't just be a power thing it'd be diff and gearing?

Mine is manual and pulls 53km/1000 in sixth . So close to 320kph at 6000rpm. My car shifts from 5th to 6th at about 235 and is still pulling hard at that speed.

Seeing that and my vid, defiantly gearing is involved to hit the magical 200.

ZF with the 2.73 diff is a Veyron matcher if you have the hp LOL

The stock auto ZF gearing in the FG will do 400km/h at just over 6500rpm in 6th

But I don't think it has the legs to get there, forget the chassis dynamics, driving through the car wash air dryer I can see the bonnet buckle LOL, the paper panels will peel off, I honestly think though a lazy 300km/h in a stock car wouldn't be hard under the right conditions but would need about 380rwkw to get there

Agreed, but to hit 300 you would need one hella straight. It's hard to tell if it's got more with the limiter smashing ya. you can see in my vid 70 to 160+ is done in the blink of an eye, if I could hold that then yeah 320+ with ease.

But to hit 400 hundred you'll need a packed lunch a continent and allot of patients..

A good example is I ran a 300+ ute a while back ( he knows who he is, lol) and after about 160 he pulled on me like I was standing still. That has to be power yeah?

I'd say my FG would do 300 easy, I mean at the track I'm at around 5000 rpm in 4th doing 210 kms ph. So with 2 gears to go and 400+ rwkws I'd say 300 would not be the prob it would be more where you could do it and the balls to keep it pinned till you got there

Smaller turbo on the g-spec would make the top-end suffer a bit too.

Off the line it will nail a stock FG F6 to 60km/hr, apparently, I'd never do sh*t like that, but after that it's a bit :surrenderwave:

:roflmbo:just... :roflmbo:

There's another thread were we discussed this. Here's a post from it in regards to the APS car that did 307km/h...

Didn't they get one to 308 back in the day with an aps kit?

It ran 307km/h in early 2004.

They had to fit 18's and a 3.23:1 diff ratio behind the T5 gearbox to achieve that speed. (The car also had better tyres and AP brakes).

Probably the key point for anyone thinking that this type of speed would be a good idea is the below statement. This is from the driver of the car...

...the air starts to play around the nose at, maybe, 260. Hard to know, with the speedo non-functional.

A bit faster and it starts to move all over the track. It’s getting to be seriously hard work with the tacho needle j-u-s-t off the limiter, maybe 30 revs shy. The engine’s not the problem, it’s the aero. Avalon’s airstrip is wide enough to land jumbos, but I doubt any of them ever uses this much width. It’s just walking the nose across the road and back again, sometimes sharply.

And then it’s over and through the trap. The aero is, if anything, worse under brakes. While moving off the throttle and onto the brake pedal, the thing steps a good three car widths sideways, then another three as the nose pitches. From there, it’s junking left, then right, and then back again until, around 230 or so, it all becomes fairly benign.

Make sure you read the last two paragraphs.

Speed is one thing, whether the chassis and aero can handle it is a whole other ball game.

Power is the other big factor. For example, the Veyron only needs 270HP to reach 155MPH, which isn't much, however, it then needs another 730HP to do another 98MPH (253MPH). Then to take it one step further the Veyron SuperSport needs another 200HP to do another 5MPH (258MPH) and that's with a body and chassis designed for speed.

Don't forget the fact that our speed limiters can only be set to a max of 200mph. The 2.73 diff, rollcage and underbody aero work would be a start, add a saltflat and I'm sure a lot of cars here could beat the APS record. Attempting 300+ on anything less than the width of a footy feild would be just plain crazy.

@ nathanway - plenty of cops on here mate, which is why we all know a good stretch of private road.
