A week after I had a service done by Ford I found two bolts missing as I was done on power. I took it back told them and they fixed everything up for free. I bet you there are heaps of cars running around with loose or no bolts at all without even knowing and are being robbed of power. Ford need to rectify this as its a bad common problem.

If you look in your warranty/service schedules you will see that it's not a standard service item, and they will add time on to do this. It shouldn't be an extra hunge, but I would expect about $40 for labour.

It lists the time as a total of 54mins to carry out the additional service of tightening the inlet and exhaust manifold bolts. Page 43 of the service book. I thinf Ford dealers are around the $65-70 per hour mark.

According to Ford this must be done with every scheduled service.

okay, where to now...

one of the shared manifold-heat sheild bolts going into the head was too tight to remove all the way, so I had decided to leave it as is... and then my old man comes along and has a go - and the bolt goes "SNAP". :kissmy::spit:

any ideas what ford are going to charge to fix this?

I have never taken my car to ford and never will unless I need warranty.

my tuner can do all the handbook serviceing and I trust him more than a ford apprentace who has to do 9 hours work in 8 and I have peace of mind knowing that my car wont be thrashed by an 18 year old.

bolts tightened free :spoton:

And pay half the price of a Ford service.

Got a rattle around the muffler each time I hit bumps, is this the loose bolts you talk about.

Yeah your absolutely right. I went in there telling them it was something to do with the muffler rattling each time I hit bumps and after all day on it, including flooding the back seat (long story) they found it and fixed it.

Now its all good.
