went for a drive yesterday. was slowing down for a red light, it changed and then I gunned in (in perf auto mode). car was pulling as usual, however once I reached about 5000rpms, it felt like all the power died. I took it easy from there, however when I reached a redlight, my car started to splurt, like it was going to stall (even though its an auto). at this point I turned off the car and turned it back on and all was well.

anyone know what it could be? my car is pretty much stock standard. had just filled up 20 dollars worth of 95ron, and was revving the car in neutral while moving (to show off to my friend, but I didnt dump it into drive)

thanks, sorry about the long post

No balls up top and a bad idle seems like a valve spring issue. But before I point the dirty end of the stick at valve springs I see your car is pretty much stock, so really it shouldnt be that. If your car keeps doing it perhaps you might want to get your fuel pump checked out

Mine has been doing this lately too...

It happens mostly when I put my foot down from low rpm and let the turbo spool up. The whistle is a lot louder and then overboosts like crazy. It runs rough, then I tap the accelerator and it goes away only for it to happen the next time I put the foot down.

If it was valve springs, if I rided the overboost could I blow my engine?

Sounds like overboost to me mr Jaeyon.

Cro, the only way you can clear a overboost limp home style error is to shut down and restart ive found. If you can "override" the overboost, id say it isnt overboosting, id say its the valve springs.

If your valve springs are failing, the problem will get worse, not better, and could result in a broken spring. Which is bad. Mind you, ive never seen a broken XR valve spring, but someone has to be the first.

if the car overboosts it will do that sometimes

I agree that this is the likely issue, Ive had 3 in 33,000km, pull over, restart, youre back in biz - no drama. And generally when flooring it from low revs, I.e. exiting a roundabout on 2 of my 3 episodes.
