If you removed the innards of the cat it is very hard to detect, oh except for the rotten egg gas smell which is very obvious. Don't worry about the cops though the EPA will give you a fine so big that you will have to sell your house to pay it, in all not a good idea. :stirthepot:

Just a question about the use of fog lights.

Few nights ago I was pulled over at an RBT and was questioned about why my fog lights are on, and told to turn them off as they bind oncoming traffic, I was demonstrated the effects by having the torch shone at me.

Don't really agree as they shine flat on the ground but anyway, he probably thinks about the Expensive Daewoo ones which shine up in the air but that's besides the point.

Anyway for the reminder of my 20 km trip I saw 3 police cars, Highway patrol SS, Highway patrol XR6T and undercover XR6T all 3 with their fog lights on.

So is this one of these laws that are not really being enforced or and no one cares about or.....????

Taken from another forum:

CHANGE IN RELATION TO USING FRONT FOG LIGHTS IS A NATIONAL ONE.

An ARR 'amendment package' dating back to May 2007 saw existing Australian Road Rule 217 'rear fog lamp/s' UPDATED to include a prohibition on the use of front fog lamps in clear weather conditions. The States and Territories will adopt the changes as each parliament sits.

The ARR update brings the rest of Australia in-line with NSW and WA which already had state regulations prohibiting the use of front fog lamps in clear weather conditions, AND brings Australia in-line with the rest of the world team; where the "UN Convention on Road Traffic, Road Signs & Signals" restricts their use to hazardous weather conditions.

ARR 217 as at February 08.

Quote:

217 Using fog lights

(1) The driver of a vehicle fitted with front fog lights or rear fog

lights must not operate the fog light unless the driver is

driving in fog or other hazardous weather conditions causing

reduced visibility.

Offence provision.

(2) In this rule:

front fog light means a light (other than a headlight) fitted

to the front of a vehicle to improve illumination of the road

in fog, snowfall, heavy rain or dust clouds.

rear fog light means a light (other than a brake light, a tail

light, a number plate light or a reversing light) fitted to the

rear of a vehicle to make the vehicle more easily visible

from the rear in fog, snowfall, heavy rain or dust clouds.

IF THE LAMP bears "front fog lamp" compliance coding on the LENS, AND IF the activating SWITCH has the ISO FRONT FOG LAMP SYMBOL, regardless of your re-naming of such, then a fine (and in NSW a demerit) will apply.
