The engine hold up very well to substantial power increases, but like everything, there is a limit. 330RWKW is about the limit of the stock internals for an XR6T. Some peopla have gone higher, but it really comes down to how much of a risk you are willing to take.

The first limitation is the gearbox.

I have been looking at the cobra kits r they a reputabel performance shop to go to? sorry for the spelling

If your in Melbourne you're a lucky bloke. Two of the country's best BA workshops are in our fair city. HPF are in Dandenong and Nizpro are in Bayswater. I personally favor HPF as do alot of others here but there would be an equal amount of members that have been modded by Nizpro and are equally happy. Going by results if you have a manual head to Nizpro and if it's an auto head to HPF.

Your best bet is to give both a ring and go with who you feel more comfortable with.

If you're not in Melbourne let us know hwere your from and we'll give you our thoughts. :spoton:

Geea. :glad:

This thread seems to be way out of date and in need of a complete upgrade. Might as well start a new thread. Who can summerise the current situation for us?

Seems things are changing so fast, it's hard to keep up, but if I may be so bold:

EDIT.......$1300

followed By, Walbro pump ?~$300

followed by 968 bosch inj ~ $700

followed by custom tune ~$300

followed by Valve springs ~?? dunno....

I guess for ~$3000 you're looking at something dam pretty quick without going silly....

I guess that setup would see around the 300rwkw mark ?

Hi All,

I am just catching wind of this, but at what point do I need to start worrying about the gear box as I also have a mk2.

My goal would be around the 250rwkw but I have been told by most on the site that the mods that I plan to do I will be looking to the 265-275rwkw range.

What would be the range for cost on the gearbox upgrade if I do need to upgrade??

Im also in Melb so any pointers to gear box joints would be good also.

P.S. any warranty snipers out there I clearly stated planning

if you have a mk11 manual your box is going to be fine (it is a 6 speed isnt it..?) clutch may be a drama if you start winding the power up... :msm:

Simon from Xtreme Ford Tuning is putting over 400rwkw and BCL has over 500rwkw and some insane amount of torque going through his...

Yes, but I'm not using a standard Ford box, I'm using a Mal Wood special, which is stronger.

I was only talking about 275ish rwkw :nono: not playing with the big boys

It is a 6 speed, hmm clutch hey... What would be the price range & where should I look in Melb for parts?

Should I just get the parts from Mal Wood & get someone down in melb to fit them??
