Peak HP is not the main objective, but excellent mid-range torque and drivability is. The stock T is relatively poor down low (sub 3k revs) for a car with VVT... I expect this upgrade to address this. With regard to mods and component durability it's still early days, but I don't mind throwing money at things to test them out. There'll still be plenty of upgrade potential after this one, if I choose to go after more peak rwkw.Brian

The exhaust note is crisper than smiths chips, suspension by herods can not fault, short shift also herrods remarkable. fingers crossed he lets me drive it after the engine mods to you Brian just wish I had the cash to make mine a sister car. Intercooloer next tothrottle body and short hoses to turbo helps alot. When I first got my T ute I was quite dissapointed with the amount of lag these cars have but looking at the whole setup with the intercooler and piping I can definately see why there is alot of lag.Brian I dont know much about these nizpro kits but you say that the kit addresses this exact problem. If I could reduce the amount of lag and up the power to 300kw at the flywheel I would be more than satisfied.First I would have to do the brakes though because they suck big time. Some of the Herrod guys in Sydney are keen to have a look at it also. It will have around 300rwkw, and should be extremely drivable. Piggyback ecu solutions such as offered by Unichip, EXEDE, plus that designed by RDP are mandatory for tuning and boost control. These are cheap yet very effective solutions for most people. But I don’t believe any of these have independent control over the cams, whereas the Motec does (at a price), which could take it to a different level of tuning. However, I believe the COBRA kit with the efficient redesigned inlet, plus XEDE, gives that solution an advantage over what is offered elsewhere, and so far to my knowledge it is offered by Nizpro, GCG and Chiptorque. I don’t see a lot of benefit of going to a much higher power level at the moment, given road and limited track use, so I’ll keep that power level for a while and see how the gearbox and tailshaft takes the power. I don’t expect the clutch to handle it for too long, but even though I’m not hard on clutches, an upgrade is likely.I’ve also requested an oil cooler, as the ecu does cut power once temps reach a given level. After that, given the strengthened internals, there is far more upgrade potential if I’m inclined…. remember turbos are addictive. As for brakes, 6 pot AP Racing or Alcon will be fitted. Also, my car’s new exhaust seems to be good for an extra 15-20kw, based on feed back from Nizpro yesterday, so the end result should be a bit better than usual. junior Member 95 Member For: 21y 7m Gender: Male Location: Kellyville, Sydney Posted 22/11/03 05:23 AM Share Posted 22/11/03 05:23 AM BCL thanks for the offer I am definately keen to have a look when it's finished.I did a search and found all of the old posts about the kit.and the pics too.Seems you have been thinking of doing it for a while nizpro definately went in the right direction in removing all that unecessary piping.A little bit pricey for me as I probably would not want to alter internals of the engine but a good start to make some serious HP.At the end of the day you need to be confident of the ability of the guy doing the tuning and nizpro have a good track record.I must admit the unichip tuners in Sydney are fairly average. In the past with my rex's both C+V prformance and Croydon Auto Sports failed to tune the unichip properly. I didn't really know any better at the time but I am more experienced with turbo cars now and know better. These guys just load a base maps that they got from APS and adjust the mixtures slightly where needed to suit your car . Anyway getting off the topic so give us an update when it's done cant wait to see it :banghead:
Guest xrglen Guests Posted 25/11/03 11:07 AM Share Posted 25/11/03 11:07 AM Great topic. Lets not forget the Warranty issues though.I spoke to my local service manager and he advised that the engine managment system will be able to detect and log any changes to boost etc. (Given that I have a good relationship with this dealer I tent to think this is a true statement!)So if people are planing on making mods and then removing them before a service / warranty repair then you may be in for a shock!? I know most people make these upgrades with this in mind but there will be a few who may assume things...Each to their own..Good luck.my 2c worth.. with my piggyback computer the standard computer cuts off at 5.5p boost and the piggyback comes into play so no info on over boost is recorded by the std computer

There is enough stuff here to get through as it is, without opening it up to new categories. To be democratic, you could start a poll.Brian
