Vik I got the cooler and filter adaptor from my local parts supplier repco or autobarn would also be able to help.As for the silver panels are part of the ssinductions cold air intake assy and help to direct air flow to intake.

as for oil temp I am no expert but under normal around town driving to work or shops oil temp would hardly reach 75 degrees so I am not sure that this is a problem as I have serviced many vechiles with many hundred of thousand of km and with regular services this is not a probelm.

I'm a bit puzzled here!

The engine runs a pressurised cooling system to avoid the water boiling, right! Water boils at 100 deg.C. at an atmospheric pressure of 1 bar, right!

I believe most engine thermostats open at between 82 and 85 deg.C., so how is it possible for the oil in this environment to remain at 75 deg.C.

Sorry to sound like a smarta**e :lol: , but I'm sure the oil is hotter than the water in the engine, especially given the exposure to the really hot bits, like the turbo and pistons.

Am I completely off track here :wub:

One thing I have found most intriguing, is that the turbo pressure (with CAPA Stage 1 kit) initially is 7.5 - 8 psi when accellerating hard, but then quickly gets pulled down to about 5.5 - 6 psi after a couple of runs, and stays there.

Turn the key off, leave off for a couple of minutes, and she's back up to 7.5 - 8 psi again on next run :wub:

Spoke to CAPA yesterday, and Tony Rullo was not happy with the performance I described for my XR6T.

We decided that I should go through the installation, check everything, and then do a base adjustment as per the newest instruction manual.

After doing this I found that the problems I had been experiencing was due to the boost mixture screw being set at the 8 - 9 psi setting, which apparently was too low.

After switching to the 10 psi setting, the problems dissapeared, and the car boosts reliably to 9 psi.

Further I feel that the boost comes on earlier and smoother during normal city driving, and when I floor it :D

Hope to have cleared up any perceptions of a malfunctioning product :wub:

ninka,so what do I do, go to repco or not?

For hot summer days or repeated runs at full throttle, an oil cooler is an absolute must.

The engine protective (this is a good thing) ECU, will reduce the performance of the car if any parameters are outside acceptable limits, and high oil temperature will result in reduced boost, and reduced performance.

So you go ahead and visit Repco or source the oil cooler kit from CAPA.

Hi , I would like to know if anybody has had any after market upgrades done example(cappa,aps,tsi,pwrchip etc) and what there feed back is on the product cheers?

Ninka thanks for clearing that up. Being logical is not a smart A. I meant to say 75 to 90. the 75 would be min temp but the oil would be a little high on viscosity. Around 90 supposed to be ideal (I think) Any Ideas on the oil not working at certain temps?(properly) :thumbsup:

I read in the owner's manual that, if the oil temp in the turbo gets too high, torque is reduced (I guess that means boost is reduced) and the oil light flashes until the oil temp goes down to acceptable levels.

Has anyone experienced this yet and does anyone know what oil temp it cuts in at?

Just as an aside, I think it's a bit like the brakes - there's an optimal temperature range and too much cooling is as bad as too little. So you need to tailor things to the type of driving you do. Eg, too much oil cooling and premium brakes in a car that is driven sedately will cause problems because nothing gets to the optimal operating temperature.

Bit of a bummer if you want to trundle into the office on weekdays and go for a bit of a spurt on weekends. Have tried to overcome this in the past by having two very different cars but, in the end, it wasn't worth the cost. Overall though, the xr6t must be one of the best compromises possible at up to twice the cost!
