Motec arent exactly renowned for giving too much of a stuff about the everyday owner. They are really focussed on racing applications so dont expect any plug in beauty any time soon..

Just thought you guys may be interested.

I had my Powerchip enhanced XR6T dyno'd this week, at long last.

If I knew how to I'd copy the image to the site...

Max power was about 275HP at the wheels at around 4500 revs. The biggest concern was the fuel mixture was really rich at high revs (11:1), and that the power actually decreased as a result of this.

I don't seem to get much joy from them as far as after sales service is concerned! :smilielol:

Gareth, Is your car an auto or manual ? The 275hp equates to just over the 200KW ,you would have to disappointed with that. that's the problem with fixed non tuner adjustable chips you can see where the problem is though you cant rectify the issue.

Hi Peter

It's an auto. I'm currently talking to one of your dealers as I'm so dirty with powerchip's lack of service (or care) I'm going to ditch it. I actually just wish I'd not gone that way in the first place!

Thanks for your reply.Let me know who your talking with and I will steer you in the right direction to make sure you get the best tune possible. Send me a PM if you prefer I want to ensure you get to the most experienced tuner for the application.

Peter

Having personally witnessed the awesome performance of Brians's beast in person it would be foolish in the extreme to discount the mods done on this vehicle in terms of out n out grunt.

But ..........like all significant mods it has yet to prove the tests of durability and time, APS et al fall into this bucket as well .Given the BA range is not much over 12 - 18 months old this is not suprising as most mods are still in the proving grounds.

Certainly there has been opporttunity for other "After market marketers" to ply their respective wares yet, they have been conspiculously quiet, relatively speaking.

One would automatically question as to why ?

At this point I am not favouring one mod over the other , just wanting some balance .

All in all the greater the feedback ( from all ) the better for the owners of the mighty T.

Cheers

Hi Gareth,

haven't heard from you in a long time. To the best of my recollection you were one of the first to get a power enhancement, it was quite a while ago now wasn't it! So you've not been enjoying your upgrade it would seem.

Hi KTFord

I have very much enjoyed my upgrade, it has made the car much more drivable, particularly when overtaking on country roads!

I have just had problems getting anyone to tune the car (as the non adjustable chips are basically un-tuneable) and have had some concerns from the begining with the occasional backfire at 4000 revs, stalling at idle, loss of power under mild aceleration, etc. Sounds like a shocker, but on the whole it has been OK.

Just time for more power and refinement now. As I have blown my warranty anyway, I figure I might as well "go the doctor" .

Regards

Gareth.

once again ... I think this thread has been nicely hijacked by all

we want to keep this thread open because it has been around for a long time and has lots of usefull (on topic) information

please start up new threads for new specific topics/issues/problems ...

no doubt you think you all are on topic, but moderators don't :o

this is a CAR forum and the admin/designers have made efforts to provide categories

... it is suggested that the last dozen posts may have gone under the topic heading "ADR compliance and possible serious consequences"

now that would be usefull for future members and easily found by the site's search engine

if any of our members pull up a chair to a thread with popcorn (hi Ken ;) ) then we will take that as a sign that there are probably unresolveable differences between posting members (or sponsors) and things have got to the "complete audience stage" for the rest of us .... we are all here to participate and not just to watch

sorry ... but we are getting tired of keeping threads on topic and having to sort out posts and splitting threads so that the information can be useful to other/new members at some time in the future

please don't send me any more PM messages re my obvious bias or thread hijacking .... just a Christmas card in early December would be nice

let the moderator bashing commence ....

where is that "issue warning button" ? :banghead:

How the hell did I get a mention in this one ... I had nothing to do the the aledged hijacking. :hrmm:

Now I realise that in the past I may have been guilty on one or maybe two occassions, but I definately didn't hijack this one! Unless of course you count this post ... :banghead:

Anyway, DOWN IN FRONT, I'm trying to watch the rest of the entertainment! :o
