:beerchug: 56 Mainline, your cold airbox idea is ingenious, brings the midrange back nicely, the spare parts boss at my dealership had a look, smiled and took down the details to pass on to other XR owners. Taking the car back to Slako's 2 morrow to re-TUNE the APS chip. This may bring back my Bullsh*t 0-100 times. B)

Dear Hypnodoc, I do not know you and have no reason to doubt your honesty. I dont however believe your 0-100 times. In my opinion the 1/4 mile time is possible with the set up you mentioned but the 0-100 is not.

You quoted 0-100 in 4.63 & 400 metres, best, 13.23. Here are a few comparisons. From MOTOR magazine.

Ferrari F575M Maranello 0-100 = 4.85, 0-400m = 12.82

Porsche 911 Turbo 0-100 = 4.30, 0-400m = 12.19

Crysler Viper RT/10 0-100 = 4.34, 0-400m = 12.30

Mercedes SL55 AMG 0-100 = 4.76, 0-400m = 12.82

Porsche 911 Carrera 0-100 = 4.98, 0-400m = 13.17

These figures are the reason I have trouble in your 0-100m times.

I'm not trying to start an arguement, but alot of people believe most of what they read and for this reson I feel we should try to be as accurate as possible. :holiday:

B) Hi Geea,

No offence taken I'm not really interested in arguing over a couple of 10th or 100ths of a sec, as I said I used an accelerometer, it stores the last ten times, but their not downloadable and the best 0 -100 is 4.63, the slowest is 5.02. I'll post you the device registered post if you like, so long as you send it back. Any way I had the car back on Tim Slako's dyno this morning and after going through the centre muffler chop, then back to 2 nine inch hotdogs, I'm down from an initial 298 kW at the engine to 284, I thought the airbox would help. Anyway leaving my clinic now to go and pick it up with a mandrel bent twin 2.5 from the cat, through a stainless muffler into 2.5 twins back to the twin 2.25 standard rear muffler. The dyno showed 9lb of boost and perfect mixtures, so it must be the centre muffler hotdog replacement loosing the power, Ford centre muffler $345. Perth exhaust centre, stainless 2.5 setup $550, maybe the factory got it right in the first place. :smilielol: P.S I'm serious about sending the accelerometer.

*head and chest inflating to overly proud proportions* B)

*waiting for someone with this mod to experience engine problems & then come looking for me...* :oooh:

I know of one performance shop that recognises the benefits and cost effectiveness of the XR8 inlet on XR6T air box, & is suggesting the mod to others... :oooh:

I definitely saw improvements with each modification that I made. All dyno proven at each stage.

Improvement with the centre muffler removed, improvement from the (XR8 duct) cold air intake, and improvement obviously the Xede processor install!!! :oooh:

And the fuel/air mixtures are all A.O.K. with the standard pump and injectors running boost 8.5psi with peaks to 9psi.

My T is a manual, no weird clunks or bangs (at least not any different to that experienced prior to modifications). And I've got 279rwkW in shootout mode (approx 350fwkW I've been informed!). :P

First mod I did was the removal of the centre muffler, dyno before & after, & I got 14rwkw at peak & max of 21rwkw mid-range.

Hey 56Mainline,

Have you noticed a distinct increase in interior drone from your exhaust mod with a straight through pipe? The last thing I want to do is turn my T into a VK bushbanger. How sweet is the exhaust note now?

Are there any Ts in eastern suburbs of Melb with the same mods done to your exhaust? I would be keen to hear the exhaust note.

Cheers.

XR6T4ME,

I've ridden in a T with muffler removed & there's more cabin noise, wether it's unpleasant or not is up to the individual. The owner of the car loves it, me I'd not have it done. The best thing is that it's replaceable if it gives you the sh_ts

What KTFORD said....there is an increase in cabin noise. I partly overcame that with soundproofing felt in the boot, the Fairmont boot lid liner, and the Ford rubber boot liner (Also crank the factory duf-duf stereo up a few notches!).

Exhaust definitely louder at cold idle, almost embarrassing at times, but quietens down when warmed up.

I've had comments from both those who know something about cars & those who know nothing (including my wife!), that say the car definitely sounds like it's been "worked" or sounds more powerful!

In the end, it is each to their own. I like the sound, so do others. But there have been a few members on this forum who had it done & didn't like the note....

I'm about where 56 is on this.

SWMBO has not yet commented.

Now, in harmony with the XEDE upgrade, which adds that extra dimension of additional boost noises, the total orchestral sound on hard acceleration is.........well............

Just bloody great...............

A 10 on the MMHS...... (Mackas Mechanical Hornalocity Scale).
