Posted 15/08/03 01:18 AM Share Posted 15/08/03 01:18 AM Vik what I have done is fitted an adapator plate to the oil filter mount and have fitted the cooler behind the top grill section in the centre it is mounted leening back at the top to get as much of the cooler in the air as possible. Posted 15/08/03 03:56 AM Share Posted 15/08/03 03:56 AM Vik I can not say the temp gauge runs cooler but doing temp test on the oil in and out suggest the oil is running about 20 -25 degrees cooler and by fitting the inline with the oil filter all the oil that is being pumped around the motor is cooled. Posted 15/08/03 09:42 AM Share Posted 15/08/03 09:42 AM On a hard drive I had oil temps of 70 degrees into cooler and 50 out this what I found I have not test oil temp with out cooler so I can not say what the standard oil temp is. I have been advised by chiptorque that using an oil cooler was of great benift in future mods as temp rise with more power increases.capa also recomend an oil cooler as well. ian Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think if you get to cold the oil dose not give you the engine protection its supposed to.( you could say it actually switches on at a certain temp) This is a simple explanation but sombody will tell more. Id be very carefull about cooling the oil to much.Well done Ante That is precisely what I was looking for.Most engine oils have a Zinc based anti-wear additive, and this additive system doesn't actually start to work until the oil gets to around 70 degrees C, hence the stories around that you don't "hammer" the car until it gets warmed up a bit.Most of the engine wear DOES occur within the first 12-15 minutes from cold.So, yes be aware of the realities. In race applications like the V8s, engine oil temperatures can regularly get to 120 degrees plus, so coolers are imperative, but in normal street situations it won't get that hot.Mid summer and heavy towing are possible exceptions.Hope it hasn't bored you. :o Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I mean local or custom made.DavoWA , tell us more, dont hold anything back, so you reckon we dont need a cooler in general except for 44 deg and towing a ship?
