Guest pmacleod Guests Posted 18/11/02 01:40 PM Share Posted 18/11/02 01:40 PM Hi All,I'm coming from a Subaru background here, so excuse my ignorance on Falcon go fast mods and shops In Rex-land the good mod shops and tuners (MRT, NRG, C&V, APS etc) are all well known to Rex owners. Are there equivalents in XR land that I should be aware of, given that I probably won't be able to help myself and will modify my car when I get it ? Not just engine mods either, who makes them handle and stop better ?Also, does anybody know if the XR6T has forged pistons ? All I have seen is that they are "different" which doesn't really say a lot. Forgies would be nice, as 6psi doesn't sound like anywhere near enough to me but I don't want to melt anything.....Cheers,Paul.
Guest DZ. Guests Posted 18/11/02 10:25 PM Share Posted 18/11/02 10:25 PM From an earlier thread someone said that the guys below actually developed a turbo kit for the AU VCTTurbo Systems AustraliaPhone: (03) 9706 6322Dandenong, Victoria. Some details on the engine internals can be found here:http://www.newfalcon.com.au/pdf/XR6%20blow...ts%20rivals.pdfAll I've been able to find is that new pistons and exhaust valves capable of "higher temperatures" have been fitted - can't confirm or deny whether or not pistons are forged or not but their not the standards I6 internals.Everything's fairly new on Barras - suspension, brakes etc - not sure if you're going to find anyone experienced, but I'm sure there are a lot of tuners out there that are currently working on an Xr6T

Guest DZ. Guests Posted 19/11/02 11:04 AM Share Posted 19/11/02 11:04 AM I'll be definitely keeping an eye on APS - they tend to bring out systems that are actually legal

Guest whatsisname Guests Posted 01/12/02 12:42 PM Share Posted 01/12/02 12:42 PM High Octane 2 has a sequence of a rex getting it's clutch dumped and you can see the gear bits fall out underneath. You might wanna check the HO2 vid again! It's actually a Mitsubishi EVO VI (think it's a VI? maybe VII?) Lancer that drops the box internals all over the runway. Give me an XR6T over a WRX anyday. A J spec STi type C (or whatever the hell they're called?) would be ok though. Back to the topic @ hand...... I'm guessing a few XR6T owners are going to carry out mods regardless of the potential warranty issues?! If you're cashed up & can afford to play (& fix major failures) why the hell not? :D Oh yeah.... G'day all :D I'm newbie here, on plenty of other forums though. I'm a fellow turbo 6 owner - R33 Skyline GTS25t with a few tweaks.

Each dealer takes a different view. Mods that can affect engine performance are generally frowned upon and many SSubaru dealers have forked for fried gearboxes and clutches etcBrett Middleton at mrtrally.com.au is an experienced Turbo specialist with WRX's in Sydney. He is working on a few modes for our cars and Whiteline is working on suspension etc in the new year.I can recomend Brett as I have 20 years top level rally experience and he is one of the best at it. He services plenty of turbos with power we can only dream of!By the way I rate the car as one of the best I have driven....and that includes an M3 SMG yesterday....regardsDallas

Apparently he reckons as long as the car doesn't heat up, you can change whatever you want. He said that one person he sold to has already put an exhaust on and they will honour his warranty so who knows?!? I'm guessing the ECU must keep a log of the temps or something otherwise it would be hard to tell.

Guest HoldenMan Guests Posted 16/12/02 12:25 AM Share Posted 16/12/02 12:25 AM Yeah a lot of the stuff they say is probably to scare people, because if ford could void warranty this easy with people doing mods to their cars, all manufacturers would be hopping on the bandwagon
