So the problems that other guy had might of just been a case of "lemon"

if youve been on 230+ day in day out without problems, sounds like a good chance of relaiable engine then.

might do a few hours and visit the SA boarder, turn around and come back and see how thigns go?

Cheers NTTurbo!! oh - and good to see you finally got your plates back :spoton:

Hey Booya,

I used to do the Darwin-Katherine drive often enough. I would consistently sit on 160-180km/h (oh, the good ol' days!) with bursts up to whatever, and I had no trouble at all with the turbo. Other things yes, like out of control electricals, clunking rear etc but the turbo was, and still is, fine. I think Capo drove over from Qld to Darwin towing a trailer at a fair rate of knots from memory and he had no trouble (even though the Townsville dealer forgot to put his air filter back in after a service, woh!!) Just so long as your oil is good, cruising at 180km/h in NT for a T is a good speed :spoton: Gee, did I already say "Oh, the good ol' days????".....................

Now just how did I miss all this ....?

I'd just like to set the facts straight:

The car was a 03 Ba with 5speed purchased from new. I eventually got to my fourth Turbo, however a dude in Katherine still holds the record at 5. The oil fitted was as specified by ford for tropical conditions. In all, My car "ate" 3 Turbos, Two diffs and one gearbox.

I don't think the car was a lemon or that I was particularly abusive, I used to cruise at 180 for hour after hour, you make your own minds up, When I bought the car I was told when that it was capable of this. Perhaps was, but I got sick of the dealer up here screwing me around. I don't really care anymore.

I honestly now think that there MUST have been a fault with the oiling system to the turbo that the retarded criminally negligent spawn of turd-maggots that they employ in the service dept here were unable to fix.

SO it's your call, I did 27,000 K's without one problem, the next 13,000 were a nightmare, but if you want my advice? DONT TAKE YOUR BELOVED CAR TO FROST FORD.

BTW Whoever said there is no boost at 180 is WRONG, if you don't believe me, disconnect your IC hose and see if you can even get to 180.

Yep I went and got an EVO, BUT this was because I refused to give another cent to FROST FORD, As I've said before, I still like the BA's, I think they're great cars, let down by the dealer up here.

Good luck, PM me when you get here, we'll go see if an EVO is faster than your T, but....Having owned both, I think I know the answer! :spoton:

Well, I was happy to report that my BF did a nice job @ 160km from Alice to Wycliffe. nice fuel economy too!

touch wood what ever the problem was with your car, its been rectified with the BF's or it was just a freak.

I know that as soon as the BF has problems - out the door it goes, and might try an EVO then :) haha

maybe a second hand one :( haha

If the T's coping well, keep it, it's the better car the hwy here (more comfy) flat out the EVO may be quicker, but I miss the cruise control...Oh yeah, it uses more fuel that the T did too!

Have you put a cooler thermostat in it yet? If your got edit you can also adjust when your fan cuts in to keep it cool on the hot roads.

I drove from Tom Price to perth behind an es magna going 200+ the whole way... ive got a 4spd auto 04 ba and she went like a beauty.. it sits on about 4000 revs at 200kmh and 230 is around 4500 I think.. the boost is cranking at those speeds too when I hit the speed limiter for the first time I nearly shat myself as the revs dropped and I heard the bov released the boost I thought I broke something, then I realised I had hit the speed limiter.. the whole journey was about 8-9 hours and is 1500ks or so.. it was flashed with the 10psi capa tune

Bastards, NT unlimited no more -

NT speed limits

"The Territory, until yesterday (story posted 2nd Jan 07) one of the few places in the world to allow motorists to drive at any speed on main highways, has finally bowed to the pressure to introduce speed limits in an attempt to reduce the number of those killed on the roads.

Under the new limits, drivers in the Territory must keep to under 130km/h on the Stuart, Arnhem, Victoria and Barkly highways, and under 110 km/h on all other roads outside built-up areas."
