Damn Subaru retained values :-) Hi Paul,l am suprised retained values on a Rex are so bad, l thought it was one of the better cars for resale.GST has a lot to answer for on the car resale/trade in market. Have you thought about selling your car privately? We negotiated a changeover price on our XR6T, if we managed to sell the car privateley (which we did) we just give the dealer a cheque for our trade in. This way you can order a Turbo, and when you look like being a month away from getting it, start advetsing your STi. l may be wrong but l'd have thought an STi would be a failry easy car to sell privately, especially given its a near new car with Subaru warranty.Just an idea.Cheers Simon

When the 250kw T3 was released an even larger brembo brake package was introduced and it was these that required the 18" rims for clearance. Cost was around $5.5k l think. These brakes (the rotors were 350mm plus) are not available on the XR's. Pity.

It requires the 18's to clear the caliper, different offset I was told.....According to www.newfalcon.com.au there is no mention of 18" wheels being required for the premium brake package. Guest MrSparkle Guests Posted 23/11/02 01:25 AM Share Posted 23/11/02 01:25 AM Mondie you are right. There isn't really any mystery guys, the brake lineup is quite straightforward For the BA XR, there are only two available units :* The BA XR standard rotors / calipers* The BA XR premium rotors / calipers - the same as what were optional on the AU3 XR series, and standard on the T3 series. These do not require 18" rims for clearance. (aka the "swirl groove" ones)The "big Brembos" were an option on T3 ONLY, and did require 18" rims for clearance. So far there has been no mention of these being available for any BA model, but from my info, as with the T3, these will be optional on GT only.I dug around and found another explanatory shot... this is both the above sets of rotors side by side, taken inside the then Tickford factory during the last Tickford Family Day back in February 2002. BTW both sets of calipers were painted red with Tickford logos in their application for the T3 series.Again, I hope I have been of some use! :D

They must be expensive. Makes the XR premiums look small in comparison, but l am still glad l ordered them. Brakes can never be too good, especially on a car with the turbo's grunt.Do you know if Tickford/FPV plan on having another open day in Feb 2003? We went to the one held in 2001 and l thought it was an excellent day. Plenty to see and lots of great cars, past and present on display. Would be especially interesting with the GT coming. Guest anthoc Guests Posted 23/12/02 12:00 AM Share Posted 23/12/02 12:00 AM When I ordered my car in JULY! I asked for Brembos. I was told that Brembos are no longer an option for XR but a new upgraded brake option was offered. PBR make the standard calipers and they also make the upgraded ones. The discs have swirl groove front and back and boy do they stop quickly. What's fade?I'm glad I ordered the 18" wheels. I haven't seen anyone else with them yet and they were barely in the door in time for my car. Pics attached. Hope you like.
