Nice pics. I was told by Ford that the premium Brakes were Bembos :cry:

Me too, but there is nothing on them to say they are Brembo's. l think its just another piece of mis-information from Ford.

They are most likely made by PBR.

The big PBR logo on the caliper certianly makes em look like PBR's too :P

Looks like only the front's get upgraded bit of a jip realy isnt it for the price, wonder what the likes of Herrod would do aftermarket.

Before we bought our previous car, a TS50 l went for a tour of the assembly line where the cars are kitted out.

The premium brakes fitted on the series 1 & 2 cars invloved the obvious stuff like calipers and rotors but also an uprated master cylinder and different brake lines. Pretty much the same spec as what you can option on the XR's, not sure though if the M/C and lines are still changed but l would be guessing they are.

The most suprising thing is that the cars had standard brakes fitted at the factory then went to Tickford where the rotors were removed and thrown into Sims metal bins to go and be meted down. Fords internal QC standards wouldnt let the rotors go back to be the factory to be fitted to another car as they were a critical component, nor would they make the cars sans brakes. My memory is a bit rusty but l am fairly sure that the calipers met the same fate.

that's where part of the cost goes, straight into the recycle skip
