I along with WBT56 wiil attempt to cover all of the issues, so lets list all the complaints and see if we can get some answers.I will start it off......This is a typical one----My 6 speed sounds like it is about to fail, it is very noisy when idleing at the lights. This is called rollover noise and it mainly occures when the car is hot, this is because the Tremec T56 6 speed is designed to run on Auto Trans fluid and when the fluid gets hot it thins out.Try this test, get the car up to operating temp, park next to a kerb or wall with the car idleing in neutral with the hand brake on and the air con on, if you hear a noise coming from the transmission this noise is rollover noise. Now increase the engine revs by about 300rpm and the noise should be dramatically reduced, if this happens the transmission is fine. The noise can be reduced by removing the factory filled Dextron 3 and filling the transmission with 4 litres of Castrol Transmax Z, this is a Synthetic Auto Trans Fluid and gives better lubrication, better heat dispersion and the viscosity of this fluid is higher than the dextron 3 at the same temp and it is an approved Tremec lubricant. The clutch can also effect rollover noise, the factory clutch hub is not the best and does not adequately insulate the engine from the transmission. Get the idea! so list your cars problems and lets go through them and all of us will learn something, Mal Wood

But what is the best way to get a decent launch in a close to stock car with T56? Second can you answer this thread, it has been around in different versions.http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...ndpost&p=416335Scotty Edited 06/08/06 09:48 AM by Kimberley Scott

Actually if only you knew how many times I Drag Raced off the lights when I was a few years younger, you would probably say I was an expert!!! Anyway back to your question, firstly don't overheat the clutch material by stalling it up or riding the clutch. The standard clutch does not have a lot of clamp and it will easily slip, so you are best to just use around 3000rpm and get off the clutch pedal quickly just don't drop the clutch!! Car's done just over 20,000kms and the Z's been in since 11,000kms.The only concern I had is that it appears that only 3.5 litres was put in (supplied 4+1L, still got 1.5L left in the big pack). I think the place I used, put it in through the old fill port perhaps?? That said, I have no noise issues whatsover. Before the Z went in, that rollover noise was very noticeable at idle, as Mal said.As for issues etc, I think the rear end bushes are going (again) as I get a bit of clunk like before when changing gears (and not blipping the throttle to match revs). I'm thinking urethane/nolathane to replace the rubber etc when I upgrade the shock and maybe springs.Changing gears is fine, though going 3-2 around a corner can be a bit tricky if revs aren't matched. I'm very seriously considering a Mal Wood shifter too.The only question I read somewhere that there's reduced throw, but that there's a bit of extra effort required as you're essentially doing the same work with less physical movement. Is that right? I find the stock shifter a bit cumbersome at times. Also, does the trans need to be dropped to fit a new shifter?

I was going to use Transmax Z until I read of the dramas other were having, I have since bought some Redline ATF, but have not put it in yet. I can use the redline in my other car so what do you recomend?2The shift quality on my F6 was crap when it was new, then with the replacement lutch it was brilliant. After a while it got worse, then they bled the clucth when they had to replace all my pedals (check engine light). After that it was great again. It has slowly been getting worse especially when changing into 5th.I notice that the fluid in the clutch master is very dark brown. I remember folk complaining of 'clutch mud' in the 5 speeds. Something to do with the heat from the turbo turning the hydraulic fluid to crap...Is this also an issue with the T56? Tee Member 29 Member For: 19y 3d Posted 07/08/06 04:05 AM Share Posted 07/08/06 04:05 AM I have a question: What cases that thump sound in the 4-spd auto when going from park into reverse? It doesn't always happen, but simply rolling the car forward a bit means I can always reproduce it. I can tell when it's going to happen because the selector feels tighter as I start to move it out of P and into R. It sounds aweful and is pretty loud. I've had someone outside confirm the thump is coming from underneath the car, under where the gear selector is.Can this be fixed? Does it indicate damage elsewhere?Cheers

As in when park is engaged it locks the driveline, if it rolls forward (or backwards) on this when locked it will clunk when released.EDIT: I guess that's what the slowman was saying - sorry Jeff Edited 07/08/06 07:34 AM by tab
