My lights are always on when Im driving, country roads on not these days. Headlights that is.Had my VX SS for 4 yrs and used the 'fogs' only when I needed some added visibility at night AND when no other cars in sight. Glarey little bastards they are...My new BA has that 'no choice' Telstra lights on feature so not much choice now anyway Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27486-fog-lights-driving-lights/page/15/#findComment-417844 Share on other sites

I've left them on enough times but never enough to flatten the battery.Small thing but every bit of extra attention you can attract from other road missles about your presence helps IMHO...Lumpy Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27486-fog-lights-driving-lights/page/15/#findComment-417896 Share on other sites

As stated earlier on in this thread though, they illuminate out to the side Ie the fog lines during fog. This ability in non foggy conditions, illuminates the side of the road where dogs, pedestrians, dark clothed individuals who see fit to run at night, and so on. In a dimly lit suburban street. Fog lights are brilliant in giving the driver that much better situational awareness.I have driven with them on anight for as long as I can remeber, everytime I read a thread like this then I turn them off, not wanting to be a law breaker and end up turning them on again as they reaaly alow more vision to the sides of the road. I rekon that they would also light up grazing roos at night as well.My 2cScotty←I would argue the exact opposite. I have tried driving at night with the ‘foglights’ on in addition to the headlights and even high beams. All they do is illuminate the area immediately in front of the car, up to 5m away. This reduces the eyes ability to discern objects further away, and make it harder to see pedestrians and roos on the roadside. Reducing your chances to stop in time. When driving at 110 or even 60km/h.So if you travel everywhere at about 10km/h, then by all means light up those foggies. When fitted with good globes and aimed higher they can light up the sides of the road 100 metres away. Some serious modifications are required to aim the lights higher, as they are not designed to point further than 5 metres. Could be a difference in front bars, for yours antisocial I do not know. I am not about defending the use. I am only giving my opinion. and around the quieter streets of Brisbane at night I have always driven on low beam with Foggies on. Found them helpful and have never been flashed.Scotty Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27486-fog-lights-driving-lights/page/15/#findComment-417984 Share on other sites
