Fog Lights/ Driving Lights

Has anyone ripped them out and replaced them with proper driving lights wired into the low beam? Is that legal if they are used at night like normal driving lights?

Personally, I reckon you could bypass this rule by quoting their "other atmospheric conditions that restrict visibility". I reckon the fact that it's DARK is enough of an atmospheric condition to justify the use of lights.

You would have to be a total ars*h*le to the coppa to get booked for this, no one bothers enforcing pissy things like this unless you are an AH of a bloke, or the cop is having a bad day.

You could always say you have been driving all day and it was foggy in the morning but you forgot to turn them off once it lifted.

Mate don`t full yourself people are being booked for it now.

The object is to raise revenue for the pollies, coppers dont`t have a choice and for all you know counts on their statistics for the day.

The truth is I blame Ford Australia for this, They should have put driving lights in and if people wanted to put fog lights on that is their perogative.

Although we get a bit more fog than we use too, it`s still not enought to warrant fog lights.

For me anyway, I live inner city.

The quicker they start booking people in Victoria now that is law the better.

I live in the counrty and we have quite a few days of severe fog and they are great in those conditions.

Currently 1 in every 4 cars in my area have the fog lights on for no good reason. Some idiots have fogs on with the parking lights on only.

Oh the driving / fog light debate goes on and on.

Plain and simple - motorists find people driving with low mounted lights annoying for the following reasons :

1. The lights are not needed unless in fog or wet weather

2. They are distracting when behind your vehicle shining in your rear vision mirrors

3. They are very distracting as on comin traffic because often idiots put a lot higher wattage globes in and the vehicle/headlights aren't adjusted properly so the lights shine up in their eyes

4. Other motorists do the right thing and obey the rules and regulations and by having these "wank" lights on when not neccassary shows a blatant disregard to the law and rules. These drivers should be fined and have demerit points taken also to show they must obey the rules like everybody else.

For the drivers who drive around with them on - I, lke many others, would pose this question -

if you didn;t have the low mounted lights fitted to your car, would you drive around with your "normal" headlights on ?

The anser - No ........ because they don't look as cool as your bumper mounted wank lights.

Please don't take offense to this - it's not aimed just at XR6 & XR8 drivers - it's for everybody that drives with these lights on.

I know a guy who is SO SO irritated by them that he carries a small pile of pebbles in his vehicle and when he sees on coming vehicles with these lights on, he doesn;t flash or dip his headlights or anything, he simply winds down his window and throws a couple of rocks out the window bouncing them off the front of the on coming car. I know and he knows that it's dangerous but he says it's no more dangerous than the oncoming blinding illegal lights. He says this will teach these wankers one way or another to turn off their lights.
