The States and Territories will adopt the changes as each parliament sits. The ARR update brings the rest of Australia in-line with NSW and WA which already had state regulations prohibiting the use of front fog lamps in clear weather conditions, AND brings Australia in-line with the rest of the world team; where the "UN Convention on Road Traffic, Road Signs & Signals" restricts their use to hazardous weather conditions.QUOTEARR 217 as at February 08.Quote:217 Using fog lights(1) The driver of a vehicle fitted with front fog lights or rear foglights must not operate the fog light unless the driver isdriving in fog or other hazardous weather conditions causingreduced visibility.Offence provision.(2) In this rule:front fog light means a light (other than a headlight) fittedto the front of a vehicle to improve illumination of the roadin fog, snowfall, heavy rain or dust clouds.rear fog light means a light (other than a brake light, a taillight, a number plate light or a reversing light) fitted to therear of a vehicle to make the vehicle more easily visiblefrom the rear in fog, snowfall, heavy rain or dust clouds.QUOTEIF THE LAMP bears "front fog lamp" compliance coding on the LENS, AND IF the activating SWITCH has the ISO FRONT FOG LAMP SYMBOL, regardless of your re-naming of such, then a fine (and in NSW a demerit) will apply.--------------------

Bobman Member 67 Member For: 17y 1m 21d Location: Melbourne Posted 29/04/08 10:46 AM Share Posted 29/04/08 10:46 AM Bit of a joke. Shouldn't there be more emphasis on BAD DRIVERS?Can't believe how many times I've seen people driving 10km/h below the limit. Some *nationalities blocked out* drivers, as well as older drivers which are a hazard on the roads.Oh, then there's unroadworthy cars that should be taken off the roads.Nah, much easier to book people for minor offences and increase revenue once again. Btw, most SS/XR6T/XR8 Police cars can be seen driving around with foggies on.

Bobman Member 67 Member For: 17y 1m 21d Location: Melbourne Posted 29/04/08 10:53 AM Share Posted 29/04/08 10:53 AM Yeah I agree mate. But at night time, as long as they're not a distraction (ie aimed low) than I don't see the big deal.VZ Late model camira headlights (SS / Calais) are more distracting than most fog lights at night time. What about a speed camera flashing. Let's book the pole too

That means I'm a more relaxed and safer drive. Does this dumb law really mean I can't use them at night unless it's actually foggy? What if I changed the wiring so they would work only when high beam was on? When I look around no less then 50% of the time I see the white car with red and blue lights on the roof and well, low and be hold there is a little black handset called a mobile fone in hand and against the ear... talking away... Then there is the unmarked guys - even worse... and they drive F6's!!!! Had one pull me up about 2 yrs ago, then following the RBT he ended up at the same restaurant, the whole time between the test and the food he was on his mobile fone, and funny enough parked in a no parking zone in a one way ally just to go get some food.. nice move...(Have pic and when I find them ill post them - if I dont forget before hand, also one of market cars heading down Church St in Parramatta with "driving" lights on, on a Saturday night at 10.30) Now I do agree there is a lot of good police out there... just wish there was more!!! the good ones!!! I'm tired of being blinded by f*ckwits in excels with their 6 million watt rear fog light. Yay for regulations.
