Just had a custom tune done by a reputable tuner, and it maxed out @ 238.1rwkw. He has even confused why he could not get more from it.

The possible causes that were suggested were fuel (BP Ultimate) or possibly the cat. I'm happy to replace the cat if that is the case.

The very same tune was installed into another T which went straight over 250 and ended up over 260. This T was a std MKI Auto with a Wog Cooler.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that may help?

It maybe a cat problem but guys please do not compare different cars as these things are all different.

There are so many diffent things that could be causing this.

What boost, afr, type of transmisson, intercooler can make a difference.

The tuner should be able to find the fault if there really is one.

Did your tuner suggest the cat was collapsed?

Get a torch and shine it up your exhaust. See any gold flakes up there? If so, cat may have collapsed. New cat will solve it.

Being an auto, I don't think 238 is too poor a result. Some engines are strong, some aren't so.

What was your absolute stock power figure?

Don't get too dissapointed with your figure... Instead, take note of how much power you have gained.

Good advice!

'typical' power is in the order of 240's to 250 - so you are actually not far away - also bear in mind that peak power is typically towards the top end, so you mid range where you drive the car may not be down at all.

Speak with the tuner - they should, as others have pointed out, be able to shed some light where the limitations are being reached - it sounds like boost (could be cat) or springs (related) - if it was injectors this would be obvious from leaning out afr's.

Some more information in relation to max boost, boost and rpm at peak power, afrs will help...

Cheers, :stirthepot:

Very good advise! On the std map it ran 190.1rwkw. I've attached a copy of the dyno sheet for your reference.

Next year when funds allow, I want to do injectors, cooler and exhaust. I might wait to then to chase more if you think 240ish isn't too bad!

50kw gain up top... Aint nothing wrong with that.

And have a look around 90kph area... 80+ kw gain down low... Awesome

forget about the absolute number ....

What does it feel like to drive?

If you can't "feel" the difference, and are NOT happy with that power level, then you might have to dig a bit deeper in your pockets.

That's a very significant increase in low and mid-range power, and it will cost you plenty in tyre wear

Low rpm power increase seems quite radical... It must light up the rears real easy. There is a heck of a lot of torque there.

Be careful with this tune in the wet.

Power comes on very quickly, and may take you (or another driver, spouse/friend etc) by surprise.

tom

pretty sure I said the detonation from the poor quality fuel your vehicle was running on did not allow for more hence we kept it down to keep it safe as I also said get some octane booster id give you more then and there or I'd play withit free next trip up all you needed was pay for dyno time but yes there was the posibility of blocked cat!

but good result was obtained regardless enjoy till I get there again!!!
