Phoon Vs Old Rx7

I watched with interest as a new neighbour moved in across the road. He has an old Mazda RX7. Don't know the year model, but I'm guessing early 80s?

Anyway, we got to talking about cars. When he came and had a look at the toxic beast, he said that he ran a Phoon at the lights the other day. He reckons it was so close he could see the fear in the Phoon driver's eyes.

He assures me his car is as stock as a rock.

So, could this be true? Is an old RX7 a match for a 2006 BF Phoon? Or has this guy got his hand on it?

why don't you try and find out and have a friendly neigbourly drag and see if your new neighbour is a bit of a dik head or not.

And besides the lad he probably raced didn't now how to drive properly.

My 2 cents worth anyway

A number of options in my view:

a. The Phoon was not trying

b. The RX7 is not really stock

c. The Phoon driver stuffed his take off and was playing catch-up

d. The RX7 guy is taking advantage of himself

Other than that I do not think the Phoon and the old RX7 are competitive. High 15s Vs high13s.....does not add up to me. If it was one of the "batmobile" ones then that would be different. Stock they were quite quick.

One of the later models yes. The (Series 6?) RX-7 SP Turbo tweaked by Alan Horsely in Australia will still crack 13.5 at the quarter stock.

They won the Bathurst 12 hour. Enough Said :nono:

Maybe his just had a stock 20B with just a stock massive turbo and stock nitrous...

Lumpy :spoton:

I had an older guy ages ago tell me that he blasted a complete bolt on modded xr8 in his newly accquired R33 GTS-T which was stock. He though his car was so tuff but wouldn't line me up, 2 weeks later I came across him on the road and put 2 length's on it without trying and he quickly dissapeared down a side street.

If we pull this post apart, we see that he said that the race was close, so a bullsh*tter would brag and say who he whipped him. He said he could see the fear in the phoons drivers eyes, now if he was racing then he would have to behind to see the eyes iof the phoon driver. All good, this guy is legit.
